Tekken 7 Season 4 Announced! Changes, Rumors, and more

by Yong Chi Winn 03/08/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

In the recent Japan Fighting Games Publishers Roundtable held on August 1, Bandai Namco announced Season 4 of Tekken 7. The update is releasing the Fall of 2020 and will feature new moves, an updated rank system, better online experiences, and at least one new character. Here’s everything we know about Tekken 7 Season 4.

tekken 7 season 4 leak
Tekken 7’s Season 4 begins this coming Fall

A Much Needed Balance Patch

Tekken 7’s current state (Season 3) is under much heat. Three of it’s DLC characters; Zafina, Leroy and Fahkumram, are under heavy criticism for being “too good”. Despite a number of patches sent out to nerf these characters, members of the Fighting Game Community (FGC) are still finding things to cry foul over. In fact, Fahkumram is currently banned in almost all Pakistani Tekken Tournaments.

The DLC characters aren’t the only issue. In an attempt to balance the game, the Tekken balance team also buffed certain characters from the base roster. This only led to more outcry and personalities such as Arslan Ash further criticizing balancing team’s approach.

Fahkumram has been banned from almost every Tekken 7 tournament in Pakistan according to Arslan Ash @ArslanAsh95 @holyknee @tekkenUlsan #Tekken7 #Fahkumramhttps://t.co/ViYMURHR1n

— Event Hubs (@eventhubs) July 21, 2020

Needless to say, ushering in a new balance patch in tandem with a new season is hopefully the overhaul the game needs to regain its playerbase’s favor.

Revamped Move Sets and Ranking System

As mentioned in Arslan Ash’s tweet, not all characters are made equal. While it is a common design choice for characters to have different strengths and weaknesses, certain characters have weaknesses that clearly outweigh their strengths. Therefore, adding new moves could be the redemption factor those characters need to be competitively viable.

The Tekken Prowess ranking system is also a new feature to be introduced. There’s no info on what will happen with the current ranking system, as we can still see the traditional “2nd Dan” displayed in the trailer. Not much info regarding Tekken Prowess has been officially announced, however, its association with a numerical value is akin to MMR in other games.

Overhauled Online Experiences

“Online Play Enhancements” and a “Better Online Experience” are also coming to the game. Just last month, Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada explained the state of the game’s current rollback netcode. He further cited that due to the complex 3D models used in the game there was only so much that could be done for the game at the time. The team was, however, working on it, so we can expect to see the improvements when Tekken Season 4 rolls out.

Unannounced New Character

At the end of the trailer, a mysterious new character is teased. There is no confirmation on whether it will be a returning legacy character or a brand-new guest character. We can make out a shadowed figure with flowing apparel, but not much else.

The traditional setting and the representation of the sun may be a nod to Japanese culture. If so, many speculate that this will be Kunimitsu. However, it’s not below Harada-san to surprise the Tekken FGC with the most ridiculous (though well-received) guest characters. Only time will tell who the mysterious shrouded figure will be.

You can purchase digital currency for your PSN, Xbox Live or Steam account to prepare for Season 4 at SEAGM.

What to buy with your free ePENJANA money? Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

by Yong Chi Winn 31/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

In case our friends in Malaysia haven’t heard of ePENJANA already, we’re getting free RM50 worth of e-wallet credit! Best of all, we get to choose where to redeem it. On top of all that, we’ve got a pretty fun game for you to try! Read on.

ePENJANA

So, maybe you’ve been too busy playing Ghost of Tsushima (by the way, stay tuned for our review), and now you’re left wondering what ePENJANA is. In short, ePENJANA is an initiative by the Government of Malaysia to help stimulate the economy of the country (and the rest of the world) during this challenging period.

Are you eligible for ePENJANA?

Malaysians aged 18 and above, with an annual income of below RM100,000 are eligible. But first, the process will require a download of the MySejahtera app and become a user before redemption.

Eligible Malaysians will be able to redeem their RM50 (only once) through an e-wallet of choice, either Boost, Touch N Go, or GrabPay ewallet. The approval process will take up to 5 working days, and each ewallet application will require their own unique verification process, and might be offering different sets of bonuses, so check it out!

Pre-order Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Source: PlayStation Europe Youtube Channel

Now that you’ve got your free ePENJANA dough, here’s something that you could spend it on. As the title says, this is Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. The game was revealed back in June 2019, and has been under development ever since. In short, players will be in control of colourful, bumbling bean-shaped rainbow beings. The objective of the game is to run (in this case, stumble) towards victory in a variety of chaotic courses.

Navigate wacky obstacle courses with 59 other competitors, and as rounds go by, a winner will be left standing. It’s chaos, escalated in a good (albeit funny) way. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is now available for pre-order on Steam!

Speaking of Steam, SEAGM has Steam Wallet Codes available in a variety of denominations in case you want to buy some other games as well!

Malaysia esports scene: How to raise the bar?

by Yong Chi Winn 31/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

Last year in 2019, esports proved itself once again that it is a strong, very viable and growing industry. Grossing over 1 billion US dollar(s), it shows no sign of slowing down in spite of the pandemic. In fact, the gaming scene is experiencing a boom since many people are staying home. So what does that mean for the Malaysia esports scene?

BFM, a local radio station went on air with SEAGM’s COO and co-founder, Tommy Chieng alongside Kevin Wong, CEO of Wulf Esports, to share their thoughts.

How did esports gain popularity?

If we are to talk about the growth of esports, we first must look at the evolution of gaming, according to Tommy. He shares that over the last decade gaming has evolved.

From PC games to web games and then to console and finally mobile. The gaming scene a decade ago was mostly considered a hobby since it wasn’t very accessible. Tommy reminiscent about the days where we would still go to cyber cafe to play since getting a PC at home is a luxury.

In the current climate, smart phones are extremely accessible especially in developing countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. Gaming begun to experience a big growth since online mobile game came along. However, the competitive scene really only begun once PUBG got a mobile port.

The impact of COVID-19

When the pandemic broke out across nations, many industries and business took a big hit. There are even companies that couldn’t hold on and went under. The gaming scene experience the complete opposite of that, however.

Big stakeholders in the industry like Tencent and NetEase actually grew. Gamers are mostly staying home and because of that, are more likely to spend. In the past 4 months, SEAGM grew by 30% ~ 40%.

When asked about the impact of COVID-19 to esports players, Kevin said it didn’t really affected them that much. He adds that pro players spend a majority of their time in front of screens training. This is something that they could do remotely as long as they have good connection. Tournaments were still being held online irregardless so it didn’t affect their income as well.

Esports vs. Traditional sports

Kevin adds that esports is not a homogeneous business. It’s very diverse with various type of games to compete in. So what defines a game as esports since not all games are sports? It is when a game has a competitive scene that pit players against each other then it becomes esports.

Unlike traditional sports where basketball is governed by NBA and football by FIFA, esports has no final govern. There’s no one “Olympic” to compete in. For example, Riot Games who owns League of Legends have their own league with the highest achievable glory being Worlds. Similarly, Valve owns Dota 2 that runs The International.

Photo by SCREEN POST on Unsplash

Tommy added that famous games right now in the competitive scene are League of Legends and Dota 2 especially in China for the former. As for mobile games, it is dominated by PUBG M, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Free Fire. Malaysia in itself, is very popular with PUBG M and MLBB but still has a huge following for League of Legends and Dota 2.

Publishers as gatekeeper

The interview, Roshan, asked if that is the case, does it make Valve and Riot the gatekeeper of tournaments. Traditional esports operate via a franchise model but this varies for esports games.

Kevin says, you can’t really own the concept of sport but the publisher of a game has full rights to the game since its their own original IP. There is no wrong with publishers controlling the game and because they want to see their community grow, they generally don’t act as gatekeeper.

Tommy agrees with this sentiment by adding that the publishers has invested their time and money to create an IP hence they should own it fully.

Does the industry need a governing body?

Moving on, Roshan questioned whether the esports industry, a growing and fragmented one, needs a governing body.

Tommy thinks that the role of the government here is to help promote and boosting esports while making sure we have sufficient infrastructure. This will help Malaysia attract more big game publisher to hold their tournament in our country. Plus, this is a chance to create opportunities for local stakeholder as well to help run the event.

A governing body shouldn’t control too much of the industry since unlike traditional sports, esports are based on games. Those are IP owned privately by their own publishers. The co-founder of SEAGM went on to add that the governing body can also help with protecting the esports player, making sure tournaments are conducted fairly. For example, few years back there was an incident where prize money wasn’t given to winners of a tournament. A governing body could help prevent and resolve such incident.

The governing body needs to protect the players.

Tommy Chieng @ BFM The Breakfast Grille – HOW DO WE RAISE THE GAME FOR MALAYSIAN ESPORTS?

As for Kevin, he sees a regulatory body as a the bridge between regular people and the publisher, a middle ground. For example, it’s hard for a regular viewer or player to dispute issues regarding rules. However, a regulatory body could be an outlet where they collect opinions to connect with a publishers for possible changes.

The partnership with Dynasty Esports

When they were asked about the collaboration between ESM and Dynasty Esports, both found it curious. Dynasty was an organization that came out of nowhere and is suddenly funded by the government body in a big amount.

Tommy thinks that it’s counterproductive since they’re trying to act as gatekeeper for the local scene. This will stall any type of potential growth. DE is behaving as third party getting into the scene to make a profit. Kevin agrees with this notion.

Making a fortune with esports

Next, Kevin shared more regarding his experience of making a profit with owning teams. An esports company’s main revenue driver is a proper sponsorship deal. Other things like exclusive broadcasting and content deal still falls under sponsorship but contributes largely to the figures. The other percentage revolves around merchandising and event. Though the big bulk still mainly derives from sponsorship.

Tommy agree with this and adds that SEAGM has been actively sponsoring esports team since they’re also part of the gaming industry. The company currently contract with SEAGM.WULF and Yoodo Gank. Previously, they also sponsored AirAsia.Saiyan, an MLBB team.

SEAGM WULF, SEAGM’s PUBG PC sponsored team

He added that Malaysia is rather small and region wise (SEA), countires like Indonesia, Philipines and Thailands are still playing catch up. There’s also a problem with companies in Malaysia finding full confidence to invest in esports. He urges Malaysian companies to educate themselves. Esports is a very viable marketing channel for their brands.

In Malaysia, for example, during big events such PMPL, is a great chance for outreach. Whenever a Malaysian team plays, we have of one of the highest viewership in the region.

Malaysia’s future as an esports hub

Moving forward, to continue growing, Malaysia must become an esports hub. How do we define a country as an esports hub?

According to Tommy, you need a local successful organization and a vibrant esports community. On top of that, a capable organizer to handle such big events is also necessary. Big companies such as ESL has set up shop in Malaysia for a few years now. We hope in the future we can see Malaysia stakeholders rise up to the occasion as well.

Finally, for the community and sector to grow. We need actual stakeholders who understands esports to be the one making guidelines and being involved. Currently we have a lot of non-esports nor gaming stakeholders holding these important positions.

Kevin agrees and adds that being an esports hub means Malaysia hosting the biggest and most prestigious tournament. For example, a Southeast Asian regional tournament can be hosted in Malaysia. We’re not the biggest country but we definitely have good infrastructure that are capable of doing this. It’s the equivalent of hosting Olympic in your country if we can do it.

If you want to check out the full radio interview, go here. To read further on Tommy’s thought regarding the impact of COVID-19 on the gaming industry, go here.

PUBG Mobile Pro League MY/SG – PMPL Season 2

by Yong Chi Winn 29/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

The Malaysia-Singapore PUBG Mobile Pro League or (PMPL MY/SG) is making a comeback this August 18. The event will be ongoing for four weeks till September 27. Here’s what we know so far about PMPL Season 2.

Not many details regarding the event have been revealed as of yet. The biggest news we have so far is the 45 second teaser that the official PUBG Mobile Facebook page shared just this Monday. We only have a glimpse at what possibly could be a sneak peak at the upcoming trophies.

24 teams will face off against each other to earn their way into a top 16 final. Subsequently, a top two (2) teams will be determined from the finals event. What’s more, these two teams will represent the MY/SG region in the PMPL SEA Finals, where they can fight for a US$150,000 prize pool.

what teams are in pmpl season 2

The 24 teams partaking in the regular season are of three categories:

  • 15 PMPL Invited Teams
  • 5 PMNC Top Five
  • 4 SG Qualifiers

*No confirmed teams appear on the official website’s brackets yet.

PMPL Season 1 is one of the more successful PUBG Mobile events to happen. Unlike Season 2, Season 1 had Malaysian Qualifiers, allowing local underdog N.E.D. Brotherhood to surprise the professional scene and secure fourth place. The lack of a Malaysian Qualifier this time round irks many, but overall social response is positive.

We’re hoping SEAGM’s own Yoodo Gank makes an appearance in the upcoming Pro League. Their recent performance is promising overall. Not to mention they secured second place in PMPL MY/SG Season 1, and were champions of PMPL SEA! Til’ then, all we can do is wait for more official announcements.

MLBB Guide – How to use Khaleed?

by Yong Chi Winn 29/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

The Desert Scimitar Khaleed is coming to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang next week. Let’s find out how to use Khaleed in this quick guide.

Who is Khaleed?

As far as we know, he is the Desert Scimitar with the power to command sand. He excels in the fighter role with specialty in damage and regen. Khaleed is good at dealing damage over time and roaming. Here’s how you can maximize his skill set.

GET KHALEED DESERT PRINCE SKIN FOR 30% OFF WITH DIAMONDS – ONLY AT SEAGM

Khaleed skill set tips

When you play as Khaleed, bear in mind that your power comes in roaming. Typically, as a fighter, Khaleed would go top lane. So try to push out your lane and then help gank mid lane if you can coordinate with your mid laner. At any rate, if you’re laning, go with the usual Flicker.

Sand Walk (Passive)

Khaleed accumalates Desert Power while moving. Once this is fully charge, he’s empowered in THREE ways. -Enhanced attack with mini dash -Increased movement speed -Piercing line attack The sand puddle left behind by his enhanced attack (if there’s more than one enemy) also increase his move speed and slows down enemy. The mini dash is a perfect gap closer and this passive alone makes him really strong for ganking/roaming.

Desert Tornado

Khaleed spins his scimitar and deal damage to nearby enemy. If there’s another enemy nearby, he will leap onto them and auto cast the skill again. The max target is three with each target increasing his damage which means the final and third target will receive the most damage. His first skill is great of chaining attacks to combo with his ultimate after landing the cc. Alternatively, you can use this skill to gap closer and leap onto the enemy’s backline to take out their carry. This is super effective since the final target receives the most damage.

Quicksand Guard

The second skill in his toolkit gives him increase defense while regenerating HP. Use this skill when you’re in a pinch and need to buy time for your team to catch up. For example, if you’re being gank and the enemy is very likely to kill you, quickly pop Quicksand Guard to increase your durability. This few seconds you buy and survive can be a big difference in form of back up or even using it to turn the tide of battle. Use Quicksand Guard defensively. When low on HP and say, being targeted by Leslie’s ultimate, you will definitely survive if you pop this. Granted of course, you’re not super under level and the carry isn’t super fed 😉

Raging Sandstorm

Summoning a sandstorm, Khaleed rides on top to a designated location and deal damage plus stun enemy upon landing. The ultimate is perfect for initiating fight if you’re trying to breach the front line and catch the back line carry. To combo, initiate with Raging Sandstorm to deal AOE damage plus stun the enemy team. After that, finish them off with Desert Tornado. Having an AOE stun like this makes Khaleed really strong at catching out enemy. The perfect time to use it is if you see two or more enemies standing close together. Also, you can pass through walls with this skill making it perfect for ganking, initiating and even running away from a losing battle to survive.

A recap on how to use Khaleed

-Move around in lane to build power for your passive.
-Once you have enough, initiate and harass the enemy with the gap closer plus enhanced attack.
-Build slightly tanky (bruiser, basically) since you need to initiate, don’t dive in and get popped instantly.
-When chasing down carries use Desert Tornado to gap close multiple targets.
-Assassinate side lanes with Raging Sandstorm through walls
-they’ll never see it coming. For more detail on his skills, you can read the patch note here and watch his hero spotlight here.

China’s PUBG Mobile, “Game for Peace” features Tesla in Newest Update

by Yong Chi Winn 28/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

Last week Tesla announced that it partnered with Tencent to bring Tesla vehicles into “Game for Peace”. Aptly dubbed as China’s version of PUBG Mobile, the game features Tesla Models 3 and X in its newest update.

Game for Peace offers two Tesla Models and Countless Skins

The update for the inclusion of the Tesla models are currently live. Both the Model X and Model 3 will spawn in random locations, but most notably would be in the newly added Tesla Showcase landmarks. Another new landmark addition are the electric charging stations.

Additionally, both the Tesla Model X and the Model 3 have three achievable levels or tiers. The tiers are:

  • 1: White
  • 2: Grey
  • 3: Purple

At the same time, the update also includes several brand new skins for character models, gliders and weapons. Check the full lineup of skins here.

China’s PUBG Mobile Marketing Stunt Cranked to 11

While Tencent dropped a trailer for the upcoming Tesla collaboration, the Tencent-Tesla partnership took it a step further by actually having a purple Tesla Model 3 “dropped” as a loot package to the Giga Shanghai factory.

pubg mobile tesla skin
Back in 2017, Tencent bought a 5% stake in Tesla for a hefty US$1.78 billion

There is currently no indication that China’s PUBG Mobile x Tesla event will happen in the international version of the game. Game for Peace (otherwise known as Peacekeeper Elite) was originally just known as PUBG Mobile in China. Despite it’s success, Tencent did not gain the approval of the Chinese Government on the grounds of violence. This led to Tencent essentially “reskinning” the game by toning down its violence and giving it a new back story. In essence, its a censored version of the international PUBG Mobile, with a few unique developer choices.

Check out the rest of our coverage on PUBG Mobile.

Are Microsoft Xbox consoles still relevant?

by Yong Chi Winn 28/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

We’re in the midst of a pre-console-war, and it’s between the two giants; Microsoft, and Sony. There’s the Xbox Series X, and Playstation 5 (respectively), and both companies are throwing teases left, right, and centre, with great reception. But here’s a curveball, Microsoft says that Xbox Series X games are no longer defined by technology.

What gives?

We came across  two articles that seemed to have sparked a touchy question for Xbox fans. Let’s take a look at some facts.

“Xbox Series X games no longer defined by technology”

The exact sentence didn’t come from just anyone. It came from the head of Xbox studios Matt Booty (nice name, we know). His statement was recorded just two hours after the Xbox showcase livestream event last week (23rd July).

Source: gamespot.com

“We’re at a point where the technology is out of the way,” he says. “In previous generations, the hardware and its limitations would leave a pretty clear fingerprint on a game. I remember the first early games that used sprite scaling and then suddenly every game had all these objects flying around the screen. You’d build a game around technical advances like that. But now we’re at the point with the tech where we can just let the stories and the characters that the teams have in mind reach the screen.” – Matt Booty via theguardian.com

– Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Studios

In short, the era of video game design being defined by technology is over, according to Microsoft. But here’s another curveball:

With Game Pass Ultimate, PC gamers have no need for the Xbox Series X

In case you missed it, Microsoft has brought its subscription service to PC, albeit in open beta at the moment. For just USD 5 (approx RM 21.26, introductory price), subscribers will be getting a ton of games, INCLUDING first-party ones the DAY they are released.

Practically every game shown off last week will be available for PC, which ultimately leaves one question. Are Microsoft Xbox consoles still relevant?

Xbox fans, what do you think? Maybe you’re a PlayStation fan? What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments section below.  We’d love to hear from you!

PUBG Season 8 Details – Loot Trucks, and all About Sanhok

by Yong Chi Winn 27/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

New Season, New Updates

Season 8 of PUBG is here and with it comes new game play elements, skins, and more. “Sanhok” gets a massive graphical and geographical rework. A new ranked Season, Survivor Pass and a number of new features such as the Loot Truck are also being introduced. “PUBG” Season 8 has already rolled out PC, and will land on consoles July 30, 2020.

PUBG’s latest Survivor Pass, “Payback” features almost 100 new skins as you explore the revamped “Sanhok”. As per usual, complete special missions to unlock unique cosmetics. You now earn more XP proportional to your survival time, and can earn up to 7200 XP per day.

The “Loot Truck” is a Compelling Addition

A prominent new feature being introduced are “Loot Trucks”. These damage-soaking behemoths travel the roads of Sanhok, and drop valuable loot as they are damaged. Destroying a truck completely causes an explosion and subsequently drops the best loot. Needless to say, engaging with these behemoths are risky as they will surely be the center of attention. Loot trucks spawn one at a time, and a maximum of four Loot trucks will spawn during a single match.

“Sanhok” Rework

Next, let’s move on the map reworks. There are now better architecture and environments in “Sanhok”. Landmarks in “Ruins”, “Mountain”, and “Cave” are now significantly changed with either bigger structures or entirely different assets. These changes are introduced with the concept of securing power-points in mind. The newly introduced buildings and landscape serve as a variety of added cover for players, leading way to new flanking tactics as well as counterplay measures. “River” has also been updated. Gone are the days of being forced to swim across; new means of traversal and added cover now gives players more freedom of choice when it comes to crossing the river.

Other notable changes

These aren’t the only map changes introduced; there’s loads more. Village roads are now wider to accommodate the aforementioned Loot Trucks. “Mongnai” is now “Airfield” and “Docks” is now “Getaway”. The changes are to be introduced to reward players better for dropping at the mentioned locations.

Moving on to the balance updates;

  • Panzerfaust has been added to world spawn loot.
  • Some vehicle spawn locations have been deleted to not interrupt the Loot Truck’s path.

Some gameplay elements are also undergoing reworks.

Furthermore, Gas Cans are getting some “improvements”. Spilled fueled now camouflages better with the environment, making it more difficult to detect and avoid. You can throw gas cans, and fuel also splatters in larger patterns. Additionally, the fire burns longer, at around 20 seconds. Jerry Can explosions deal less initial damage.

At any rate, here our top five picks for the best of the PlayStation Summer Sale. Additionally, we’ll include a list of honorable mentions at the bottom, so stick around!

doom eternal gameplay

DOOM Eternal

Doom took the world by storm with its 2016 reboot. It introduced high-octane, relentless demon-slaying gameplay with gorgeously gruesome visuals. Needless to say, it scored high 9s and 10s by critics and public audiences alike. Its sequel, Doom Eternal, once again puts you in the demon-stepping boots of the Slayer. With a perfected formula, new gameplay mechanics, and seamlessly embedded metal OST to slay demons to, Doom Eternal easily secures its spot on this list. death stranding playstation sale

Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima’s latest title, Death Stranding, has at least been under your radar once. Its gameplay showcase raised some questions as many perceive it as a delivery-man simulator with an obscure story. While a hefty early portion of the game involves avoiding confrontation altogether, there is actual weapon combat in its gameplay. Death Stranding is more than just that, however, as it also involves in-depth resource management to ensure you “connect” America successfully. In this “genre-defying” experience, it’s up to you as Sam Porter Bridges, to prevent mankind from impending annihilation. If you were ever on the fence about getting it before, you can now experience the adventure at a heavily discounted price.

You can get “Death Stranding”, both Standard and Deluxe, for 60% off.

horizon zero dawn goty edition sale

Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition

Horizon Zero Dawn tells the story of a humanity reset after an apocalyptic event. You experience the tale of Aloy, a rejected tribeswoman who is of unknown origin. Explore a hybrid world of evergreen growth and machinery as you uncover the mysterious cause of aggression among rivaling tribesmen. Upgrade your weapons and armor as you face off against threats both robotic and human. Explore an amazing open world as you discover why humanity was “reset”.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition also comes with the Frozen Wilds expansion. It’s currently 55% off.

dmc5 playstation

Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5 is nothing short of a spectacle. Utilizing Capcom’s robust RE Engine, take control of photo-realistic Dante, Nero and V all in a crisp 60 frames per second. Devil May Cry boasts combat that’s easy to pick up and difficult to master. Each character is unique not only in terms of combat, but also in their personality and writing. Take down Urizen, the strongest demon the trio has ever faced as it sucks away the life of Redgrave City. Explore Gothic-inspired environments, alongside facing off against a variety of terrifyingly designed enemies.

Easily a game that anyone should buy at full-price, Devil May Cry 5 is 50% off for both Standard and Deluxe editions.

jedi fallen order sekiro gameplay

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an exemplary game that not only boasts solid gameplay but also a strong narrative. Take control of Cal, an abandoned Padawan must escape the hunt of the Empire’s Night Sisters. Unlock all of your Force abilities and master the art of the lightsaber in its punishingly rewarding combat. Explore it’s large, seamless world with intricate levels of verticality for rewarding exploration. Satiate your Star Wars hunger by customizing your lightsaber and exploring lore set up by the official movies and series.

Jedi: Fallen Order is available at a 50% discount.

PlayStation Summer Sale: Honorable Mentions

Though, we wished Naughtydog’s masterpiece The Last of us 2 would’ve been on the list (we’re asking for too much here we know). there are so many other games that we would’ve loved to write about as well, but we couldn’t possibly fit them in a single list. So, here are some honorable mentions!

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 ( -50% Standard Edition)
  • Resident Evil 3 ( -34% Standard Edition)
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ( -70%)
  • Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds ( -67%)
  • Gran Turismo Sport Spec II ( -55%)
  • Tekken 7 ( -75% Ultimate Edition)
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy ( -55% Bonus Edition)

PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) 2020 EAST: RRQ Beer11 – Best play so far?

by Yong Chi Winn 24/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

The PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) 2020 has been on fire with week 2 kicking off to a GREAT start on Day 1. What’s even better here was a moment that, which we would regard as possibly, the best play so far. What are we talking about exactly?

Rex Regum Qeon Athena (RRQ Athena) – Beer11

We’ve seen quite a number of big moments so far at PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) 2020 EAST. The last one being Draxx from Yoodo Gank. BUT, if you were watching Match 3: Week 2 – Day 1, you would know what moment we’re referring to here. Beer11, from team Rex Regum Qeon Athena (RRQ Athena) with his teammates all wiped out prior. Left alone in a heated situation in the match, he was forced to fend for himself.

Beer11 played a rather stealthy game by proning on the ground, staying out of the enemies eyesight. What happened next totally blew all our minds. Watch and see for yourself:

One man, three enemies, grenades, gunfire and Beer11 finds himself behind one of the best plays of PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) 2020 thus far. Imagine the amount of “clutch pressure” that was on the guy, and successfully pulling through.

If you’ve watched through the whole video above, you’d realise that it did not just end there, as Beer11 went ahead all the way to the end, and found himself in another sticky situation. Above all, it was 1 versus 2 members of T1. He manages to knock one of them out, but ends up getting knocked out in the end.

Beer11

Pheeraphol Phumrat, FKA “Beer11” is a professional PUBG Mobile player that hails from Thailand, and is currently playing for Rex Regum Qeon Athena (RRQ Athena). An ex player for SuicideSquadGaming, Pheeraphol was formally introduced to the world as a Rex Regum Qeon Athena (RRQ Athena) player on January 10th 2020.

What do you guys think? Was that the best play of PUBG Mobile World League (PMWL) 2020 EAST so far? Or are we bound to catch an even “BIGGER” one soon? Which team is your favourite? Let us know below!

Free Fire OB23 Update: All Expected Changes, New Character?

by Yong Chi Winn 24/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

The Free Fire OB23 Update

Garena’s very own Free Fire has been keeping its playerbase engaged with update after update of intriguing content, balances, and bug fixes. The latest advanced server, OB23, hasn’t opened yet, but there are already data miner leaks absolutely swarming the internet. Let’s take a quick look at all the upcoming Free Fire OB23 Update changes.

garena free fire

New Weapon

First up, we’re getting a new Assault Rifle to the arsenal. The Austrian AUG (or also known as a Bullpup) is the latest addition to Free Fire. No other information such as damage and fire rate is public as of yet. But of course, like any other game, the latest additions will have to have impressive viable stats to shift the meta of the game. Reports are that it comes with impressive range alongside a good fire rate. If you’ve ever played Counter-Strike, you can probably make an educated guess based off of the same weapon.

Lucas is the second character of Brazil-nationality to be featured in the game.

New Character

A new character joins the fray. The portuguese text shown in the promotional image, “novo personagem” translates to “new character”. In case you were wondering, the upper text translates to “advanced server”.

Anyways, the new character Lucas is holding a soccer ball (or football) in his hands. Conversely, he has an ability called “hat-trick” that allows his health bar to extend beyond 200 HP after he kills someone. The extension remains even after losing the additional health.

New Pet

A new major, A new pet. Garena holds true to this statement with the latest pet addition; a penguin. At the present time, there are no confirmed details as of yet. Translating “Dom Pisante” yields nothing decipherable, though leaks suggest that its ability will have something to do with igloos. In conclusion, it’s best we wait for official word from the developers. Why not check out our previous coverage

Map Changes

The leaks allege that the fan-favorite map “Bermuda” will be getting a revamp with the coming update. Therefore it is expected that new locations and architectural landmarks are to be integrated into the map.

Event

“Grim Reaper” will replace Free Fire’s current event. It is expected to be playable soon after OB23 goes live. Given the popularity of Free Fire’s current event, “Rampage 2.0”, it’s expected that Garena will follow up the success with “Grim Reaper” by continuing to provide free premium goodies to players that take part in the events.

And that’s all for the Free Fire OB23 Update changes! The OB23 update is not live as of yet according to the game’s official website, however you can no longer register to be a test member for the server. Be sure to frequent us at SEAGM News for all the latest info on Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, and Free Fire.

Xbox Games Showcase: Our Favorite Announcements

by Yong Chi Winn 24/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn
xbox series x all games

The Xbox Games Showcase was a spectacle of a show, with huge game announcements, to compelling gameplay footage. It was difficult to pick and sum it all up, but here’s our favorite picks from the Xbox Games Showcase.

Xbox Games Showcase: Top Picks

Halo: Infinite

The iconic Master Chief is back; this time, in full 4k, ray-traced and at a crisp 60 frames per second. It’s time to save your home by taking the fight to the enemy. The short-but-sweet demo gave us a first-hand look at alien life forms demolished with a variety of weapons. Shoot enemies at different

Relentless fast paced combat, all running at a buttery smooth 60 frames per second, and it’s available this Holiday 2020 on Series X, One, and Windows PC.

The next game on our list is also conveniently the next game shown during the presentation. State of Decay 3 showed us a beautifully rendered trailer set in a snowed-in forest. It’s predecessors may not have had the highest ratings, but were definitely a blast to play with friends. It’ll be a treat to revisit the chaotic co-op zombie survival formula under the power of the Series X.

Everwild

Riddled with fantasy and a mysterious aura, with amazing and unique creatures in beautiful, captivating nature, this cel-shaded title shows that not every game needs to look realistic to be taken seriously.

Explore the theme of eternity and life. Everwild releases on Series X and PC.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

The luminous charm of Ori sheds cool yet intense light to its dark surroundings. What better way to explore the gorgeous multi-layered environments than on the Series X? Now upgraded to run in full 4k with HDR-enabled at 120 fps. Additionally, audio will also be getting an immersive upgrade. With smart delivery enabled, revisit the fantasy of Ori and experience an old tale in a new light.

Obsidian

To begin with a humorous jab at Cyberpunk 2077, Grounded’s trailer is nothing short of witty and charming. You alongside your peers are miniaturized and need to survive against the hordes of insects and garden wildlife that are now dozens of times your size. Specifically, Grounded hopes to continue Obsidian’s immersive and trademark story telling through the survival game genre, and I for one, am excited to play a fresh new IP.

Psychonauts 2

With a soundtrack boasting the vocals of none other than Jablinski Games, the iconic art style is brought to life in a colorful world for you to traverse. Engaging in combat with a colorful cast of enemies is satisfying. Take part in fun and engaging platforming in a world that seems to be painted by someone that… is under medication? Psychonauts 2 releases on Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.

Fable

Finally, Fable. What more is there to say? It’s FABLE! Even if it did not pioneer the “freedom of choice” aspect in gaming, it perfected it. Be whoever you want to be, and make whatever choices you want. But of course, face reasonable consequences after. Fable is a franchise that does what it does well, and it is adored by its player base. We can’t wait to see it out after the franchise’s long ten year hiatus.

And that’s it for our favorite Xbox Games Showcase announcements! What were some of yours? Leave your top picks in the comments below, and why not check out if there are some sweet deals on Xbox Live gift cards while you’re at it? :^)

We all know Garena Free Fire as one of the most popular battle royale mobile titles in the world. There are always new updates being pushed to the game (thanks to Garena), but have you heard of Garena Free Fire Max?

Garena Free Fire Max

Initially available for download, and early testing in Malaysia, Cambodia, and Bolivia, in a nutshell, Free Fire Max is an enhanced version of the original; Garena Free Fire. “Upgraded” in other words. Higher-quality visuals are not the only things the players can look forward to though, as there are other improvements and enhancements that are offered as well. Two Xbox One Models to Cease Production

by Yong Chi Winn 23/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn
Xbox One discontinue production
The Xbox One X pioneered the 4K console gaming scene

Two Xbox One Models to Cease Production in Near Future

With the upcoming console generation to make its debut later this year, Microsoft is pulling the plug on two of its console models. The Xbox One X as well as the Xbox One S All-Digital version are set to discontinue production. Microsoft has stated that interested parties can “check with their local retailers for more details on Xbox One hardware availability.” Here’s all you need to know about the two Xbox One models to cease production.

Microsoft made a statement to IGN regarding the decision. With Xbox Game Pass currently housing 10 million members, and Project xCloud being tested in 15 countries, Xbox is determined to continue putting “the players at the center of the Xbox experience”. The statement also highlights pushing work and effort to the Xbox Series X.

The standard Xbox One S is still in production and available for purchase globally.

The Future of Xbox

The Xbox One had a rough launch in 2013. Many factors contributed to this. An expensive launch price, unwanted mandatory peripherals and awkward restrictions on playing used games enraged many of its 360 fan base. Of course, this made many gamers lose faith in Microsoft. Additionally, Sony gained a massive competitive advantage.

Phil Spencer took over as Executive Vice President of Gaming at Microsoft in 2014. He started making many pro-consumer decisions, delighting many. Lowering the console price, lifting the awkward restrictions, and introducing backwards compatibility were all notable steps into pro-consumerism. Xbox’s image and reputation drastically improved under Phil’s leadership. For that reason, the Xbox Series X is on many gamers’ watchlist, and many are hopeful, if not confident, that it will do well.

Do you own an Xbox? Check out our Xbox Live gift cards for all regions. Why not also check out our list of upcoming Xbox releases?

DOTA 2 – The International 10 – Prize pool? What’s happening?

by Yong Chi Winn 22/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

So, Valve launched The International 10 ‘Dota 2’ Battle Pass back in May, earlier this year. This, despite the competition being postponed to next year (2021). But the bigger question that’s been playing in a lot of our minds recently is, what’s the prize pool?

Dota 2 – The International Prize Pool: History in the making?

Why does Dota 2’s The International Prize Pool matter? Why is it such a big deal? Well, 25% from all sales of Battle Passes are accumulated into this thing called a “Prize Pool”. This is the prize money that professional Dota 2 esports teams will be competing for. In short, the prize money is crowdfunded.

With that out of the way, let’s stroll down memory lane. In fact, let’s not go too far. The International 2019 saw records broken, with 8.5 Million USD garnered in less than 24 hours.

Source: dota2.prizetrac.kr

At the end of the day, The International 2019’s  total prize pool was a whopping 34 MILLION USD (approx RM 144,485,000.00). That is insane, as it gives you an idea of just how big the tournament is. But you probably understand now, why this whole thing is such a big deal. The bigger question here though is; Will we see records broken further with The International 10?

The International 10

Just to clear the air, yes, the tournament was supposed to take place this year. Next month (August) to be exact. And no, we won’t be seeing The International 10 this year (2020). The tournament however has been postponed to next year (2021). So what’s the current prize pool given the current global situation with Covid-19?

Source: dota2.prizetrac.kr

With the release of the Battle Pass earlier this year, the amount accumulated so far is a massive 29.5 million USD (approx  RM 125,448,750.00). We’re halfway there, so what do you guys think? Will we see another broken record? Let us know in the comments below!

All Free to Play Mobile Games announced during UbiForward

by Yong Chi Winn 22/07/2020
written by Yong Chi Winn

Three free to play mobile games highlighted

Ubisoft Forward was packed with huge AAA industry game announcements like Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion and more. However, that didn’t stop it from giving mobile gamers some love. Here are all the free to play mobile games announced.

brawlhalla mobile release date

Brawlhalla Coming to iOS and Android with Crossplay Support

The insanely popular brawler, Brawlhalla, is coming to Android and iOS August 6, 2020. The mobile version features crossplay allowing players to connect with PS4, XB1, PC and Nintendo Switch players. Players can also customize and map controls to their liking.

Brawlhalla is a free-to-play 2D-fighting game with a myriad cast of playable characters. Unlock Over 50 “Legends” via earnable in-game currency . None of the characters are locked behind a paywall. Players that want to support the developers can instead opt to purchase skins or battlepasses, or make a one-time payment to unlock all current and upcoming characters.

Featuring popular guest characters such as Jake and Finn from Adventure Time and Ben from Ben 10, the game continues to receive support from it’s 40 million registered users and monthly updates and patches from developers.

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad

This fresh IP is coming to Android and iOS on August 27 this year. The cinematic trailer highlights team based gameplay with a vast array of characters with varying roles. The top-down tactical shooter will have players playing a hyper-exaggerated version of chess. Compose a formidable team of uniquely skilled units to survive waves of enemies and complete objectives. Power through the campaign and partake in limited time events to upgrade your agents and unlock new ones.

Elite Squad pays tribute to Ubisoft by featuring characters from beloved franchises like Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell and agents from Rainbow Six: Siege. The campaign will also supposedly pay homage to Tom Clancy himself. It will also include a PVP multiplayer mode.

Might and Magic: Era of Chaos

While this game isn’t entirely new, Ubisoft took the time to thank its dedicated player base for over 30 million hours of playtime. In commemoration of its seven months since release, Ubisoft is giving free rewards for players to download the game.

Might and Magic: Era of Chaos is an army battle simulator with RPG elements. Recruit a variety of warriors and creatures to fight for your army. Harvest and hoard treasures and artifacts to upgrade your troops for maximum stats to assert dominance over the world of Enroth.

Explore the gorgeously colored and artistic 2D environments through the game’s campaign. Once you’ve fortified your army, face-off against other players in epic real-timed PVP sieges. According to Sensor Tower, it has an estimated 80,000 worldwide downloads as of June 2020.

And that’s all for the free to play mobile games mentioned during Ubisoft Forward! They look like great distractions for when you need a break from titles like Mobile Legends, Free Fire and PUBG Mobile.
