How To Use Lucky Cards in the Anger Power Spin

6 Things I wish I knew before I started COUNTER: SIDE

COUNTER : SIDE was initially made and released to be available to Korean servers back in February 2020. Which was then released to the SEA server in July 2021. Despite being a gacha game, many players got into it due to the game’s friendliness towards F2P players.

While I would not call myself a veteran, but I’ve played the game long enough to share the things that I should’ve taken into consideration when I first started.

Gacha games are not known to have story driven plots, only a handful were able to tell a story to stimulate our emotions ( we’re looking at you Genshin Impact). But not only does COUNTER: SIDE have a compelling story, with light humor to make chapters interesting but at the same time not as cringe. But I always found myself straying away from story quests to grind up certain materials for my characters. Not only does it hinder my progress somewhat but some of the rarer materials are locked until you’ve progress further into the story. So if you want to get your characters stronger, be sure to complete at least until main story EPISODE 4.

Just because a character is SSR does not make it top tier and likewise, R and even N rank characters can be found in many top tier meta lineups. There are a lot of characters in the COUNTER: SIDE roster and it is normal to see some characters have it better than others. So be before you proceed to build up a particular character there is a tier list you can follow here.

The main aspect of any gacha game, the randomized chance of obtaining your favorite characters. Surprisingly, COUNTER: SIDE is fair when it comes to it’s genre. More often than not I found myself obtaining the character on the banner as advertised. However, the 1st reason why COUNTER: SIDE is F2P friendly it’s because you should not be pulling for every character and banner. Here’s why.

Awakened units in Counter side are much stronger than their non-awakened counterparts and the only way of obtaining them is through Gacha. While having the same SSR tag, awakened units are labeled as the strongest characters in the game and players should pull for them whenever they get the chance. Although you can obtain them if you are an F2P player, it is relatively expensive if you want to drag in spending into the equation.

To obtain awakened characters you would need to use Classified Employment Contract which are “Black Cards” instead of the usual Employment Contract. Black Cards are hard to come by, you can only obtain them via purchasing with Quartz every week, daily missions, through the Gauntlet store and events from time to time.

With each character pull you get 10 Task Planet Points and you can trade it in for various items in the Planet mall. I would always trade in these for more Employment Contracts which in the long term it is NOT a good idea.

You can purchase new Operators with Task Planet Points as well and that is what you should be doing instead of getting extra 5 pulls per week.

Operators weren’t brought up until a later point in the game and they play a big part in battles it is underrated. At first it may be complicated to understand but Operators can change the tide of battle if built right. They offer various buffs, provided that the role sequence are deployed in order to active the buff.

COUNTER: SIDE allows you to take characters into battle with other real life players through the Gauntlet. The Gauntlet is the PVP system that can be broken into 2 segments ; Strategy Battle : Battle against a preset team of other players. Ranked Battle : Battle other players in real time.

The main reason why one should be participating in PVP as soon as possible is to obtain Gauntlet Points which, you guessed it can be traded to purchase items in the Gauntlet Store. Among the items that can be purchase are valuable for character progression and even Black Cards.

Is Metroid Dread The Best In The Series? | SEAGM Review

It’s been a month since the release of Metroid Dread and we know what you’re thinking.

Brad, you can do a speed run in 90 minutes on Metroid Dread. So with such a short game, is it worth touching it, let alone play it?

Short answer YES.

If you’re a fan of Samus and the Metroid franchise it’s more the reason why you should play it. The graphic is much better than the previous games and the gameplay is much more intense. But the star of Metroid Dread has to be its story telling.

Story Overview

The game’s storyline takes place after the events of Metroid Fusion, where the Galactic Federation receives a video footage from an unknown source that suggests the X Parasites had survived the destruction of SR388. The news would lead to the Federation wanting to use these parasites as bioweapons. Resident Evil vibes here we come. So, the Federation would later dispatch a unit of E.M.M.I robots to investigate this situation from the planet in which they received the message, Planet ZDR. However, the unit would vanish after its arrival.

Then, Samus would soon be dispatched by the Federation to investigate the situation as she’s the only one in the universe that’s immune against X Parasites. Samus’ Power Suit can also regenerate to its original appearance, before her vaccination against the X.

After arriving to the planet, Samus was attacked by a hostile Chozo, one of the ancient beings from the planet SR388. Chozos were only mentioned in memoirs in the Metroid Prime side series.

From that point on, our protagonist and best girl, Samus Aran will have to face several challenges and puzzles head on. In fact, if you play the game with heart and follow Samus’ journey, you will find that the bosses in this Metroid game is much more difficult than its predecessors. At least we think they are.

Our Favourite Samus Suit and Abilities

Some of our favourite powers are Speed Booster and Morph Ball. They’re fun to use. For Morph Ball, Samus can drop bombs and go through tight spaces. For Speed Booster, she’s basically like the Hulk in an Iron Man suit. She can destroy walls/ obstacles as well as enemies in her path. When she’s in the Speed Booster state, you can activate  Shinespark technique to launch Samus in a specified direction. Ability wise, we do enjoy her Grapple ability a lot. It’s fun to see her go up to higher areas without double jumping. Kinda like a more advanced Batman.

Moreover, this game allows you to choose two types of suit for Samus, the Power suit and the Varia suit. The Power Suit is the standard suit while the Varia suit allows Samus to reduce damage  and insulates her in extreme heat.

Controls Better Than 3DS?

On the 3DS controllers, because it feels cramp, it was quite difficult to get through the game without complaining. But now, although the bosses are tougher, the Pro Controller on the Nintendo Switch really gives you much more room to control Samus perfectly. Like every other Metroid game, timing is essential.

Additionally, you can play Metroid Dread on the console itself, but, it’s much better to play it on the TV. Take your time, complete the levels one by one as the puzzles and fighting mechanics are very fun.

However, if you’re unfamiliar to the side view, it might take some time for you to adapt to it, but once you do, it’s a real joy to play.

The Mehs

With every good game comes the bad, though there’s not much to address, the one big complain we have of this game is the length. Sure speed runners skim through it in less than two hours, but for us, we felt that since we’ve waited for over 16 years for a sequel, it would be much appreciated if we gotten an hour more of story. Although the writing has been beautifully written, but we can’t help to ponder on questions like, what if the game added 20minutes of storyline, how far can Samus go?

However, to some, the storyline length is just nice.

Fun fact, the name, back in 2005 before the announcement of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, it was meant to be Metroid Dread.

This reannouncement of Metroid Dread is what fans have been waiting for in the last 16 years, and it was well worth the wait.

Overall, I do feel that it’s one of the must have games for Nintendo Switch users. Though it can be quite a drag at some moments, the majority of it makes up for it. The game includes the elements that made fans fell in love with the Metroid series in the first place. Plus the new mechanics makes the puzzles much more enjoyable to solve.

The mix of both the old and new is what makes the game so special.

Rating: 9/10

All you need to know about the first Wild Rift international showdown

It’s been a while since the announcement for the Wild Rift Horizon Cup, and now there’s more info to share! The 10 best teams around the world will come together to compete for the first international title (and a share of the $500K prize pool!) in Singapore from Nov. 13 – 21. Here’s the full scoop about the qualified teams, tournament format, groups selection, broadcast schedule, and free in-game items!

Here are the 10 qualifying teams from each region.

Format

Group Stage: Nov. 13-17

The 10 teams who have qualified through the Regional Qualifiers will be split into 2 groups of 5 teams each. In each group, the teams will play a single round-robin of best-of-three matches. The top 3 teams from each group will move onto the Knockout Stage.

Knockout Stage: Quarters (Nov 19), Semis (Nov 20), and Finals (Nov 21)

The 1st place teams from Groups A & B have earned a bye and will automatically advance to the Semis. The 2nd and 3rd place teams in each group will face off in a single best-of-5 against a team from the other group. The winners of the Quarterfinals round will move onto the Semis where they will compete in a best-of-5 against one of the Group A & B winners. 

The Semifinals winners will head to the Finals in a best-of-7 round for the first international title!

The qualified teams have been split into two groups, Group A and Group B. The groups were split in a way where teams from the same country would not appear in the same group.

Instructions:

Chatting With Dota 2 Legend, Mushi | Interview

Gearing up for TI10, we had an interview with Malaysia’s Dota 2 legend, Mushi about his career as a coach, his experiences playing at TI and other competitions as well as his thoughts on this year’s TI10.

It been a week since we witnessed one heck of a Dota 2 tournament. A week since Team Spirit defied all odds to defeat some of the world’s greatest team to win the Aegis at The International 10. What a tournament it was and to say that we feel the post-TI10 blues is an understatement.

Brief History

To give you a little bit of background and history, Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung is a professional Dota 2 player and the current coach for Boom Esports (as of 28 October). Back in the early days of DotA 2, Mushi was known to be one of the best players in the world, especially in the Mid position. He won the GosuAwards in 2013 as the Best Mid Solo DotA2 player. In fact, in 2009 when Mushi just started, he would meet KuroKy at the SMM tournament and after playing each other, Kuro went on the state that he felt like a noob playing in the mid position against Mushi.

Mushi made a name for himself when he joined Orange Esports in 2011.

Some of his achievements as an active player include getting to 3rd place at TI3.

And yes, we know what you’re thinking, it was the infamous Denied Aegis moment. But, don’t forget that Mushi and Navi’s Dendi had a great battle in the mid lane.

In any form of competition, mistakes do happen, but to be able to reach 3rd in the biggest esports tournament is something to be proud of.

After his time at Orange, Mushi would join the Chinese team, Team DK where he placed 4th in TI4.

Fast forward to 2014, Mushi and a group of Malaysian DotA 2 legends would form a team to represent Malaysia called, Team Malaysia.

In 2015, Team Malaysia would be acquired by Fnatic.

During Mushi’s time at Fnatic, his team would place 4th in TI6 as well as finishing top 6 at both the Manila and Shanghai Majors.

After Fnatic, Mushi would join Mineski where he won the Dota 2 Asia Championships in 2018, defeating LGD in a close 3:2 series.

During the 2020-2021 DPC circuit, Mushi was the coach for TNC Predator and although the it has been challenging due to the online tournaments, he’s still eager to push on to be the best coach in the world.

On 28 October 2021,  Indonesia’s Boom Esports announced that Mushi will be their new DotA 2 coach.

Some of Mushi’s notable signature heroes include: Shadow Fiend, Queen of Pain, Medusa, Luna and Ursa.

Mushi On The International 10

Post TI10, we caught up with Mushi once more to ask him about his thoughts about the tournament and how it compares with the past TI tournaments.

“It was a very entertaining TI , and to see Team Spirit climb all the way from lower bracket to winning the tournament was truly heartwarming. They also reminded me of Orange Esports back in TI3. Although we came in at third place we never gave up. It also reminded me of Wings, where it was the player’s very first time competing at TI and for Team Spirit everyone was new, except for Miposhka.” – Mushi

Mushi On Countering Collapse Magnus

At TI10, we also saw the rise of Collapse’s Magnus and how everyone in the Asia server was either playing Magnus or banning Magnus. We asked Mushi what would he choose to counter the Collapse Magnus.

“I would think maybe Lion, Rubick, Winter Wyvern, Tide Hunter or Vengeful Spirit would help the opposing team a lot. Maybe even Spectre.”

Before there was a Collapse Magnus, we have to remember that there was the kYxY Magnus. And, like everyone, we just had to know what his thoughts were and who played Magnus better.

” I don’t think you can really compare the two. The patch back then and the current one are really different. But, in their moment to shine, no matter if it’s Magnus or any other hero, they will definitely put on a good show.” Mushi said.

That being said, we think that Mushi is still one of the best Mid players of all time and it was a privilege to have a chat with him about his career, helping others as well as his thoughts on the DotA landscape in the Southeast Asia region. Hopefully one day we will see Mushi be the next Malaysian to win a TI Aegis, either as a coach or a player. We wish Mushi and TNC all the best in the next DPC season.

Halloween is around the corner and there’s nothing better than to celebrate this eerie season with some horror games.

Although horror games may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it can be rather entertaining, especially when you play with your friends.

Here, we list down 5 of our favourite horror games that you should play tonight (either alone or with the “person” next to you)!

Dead By Deadlight

Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer asymmetric survival horror video game and although it’s a few years old game but its content is always updated with new features and new storyline.

Basically how the game works is that there will be a group of four survivors who must escape one killer.  As a Killer, your goal is to sacrifice as many Survivors as possible. As a Survivor, your goal is to escape and avoid being caught and killed.

For the survivors to escape, they will need to repair 5 Generators located in the map. Then, when the Exit Gates open, the survivors will need to run beyond and escape the trial. Though, the survivors choose when to exit the map. In fact, they can stay around to save others they must do so before the Endgame Collapse, meaning before the timer ends.

The two-minute Endgame Collapse is the last phase of a trial.  It signals the Survivors of their last chance to escape. When time runs out, any Survivor remaining on the map, even those hiding in lockers fall into the clutches of The Entity and count as regular sacrifices for The Killer.

The Killer has a limited time to transport Survivors to a Hook, as they can eventually wiggle free, stunning the Killer in the process. They must also watch out for other Survivors, as some actions can make the Killer drop their the survivors.

Since the game’s released there have been several collaboration and content updates to the game. Some of the notable collabs include: Evil Dead, Halloween, Left 4 Dead, Saw, Silent Hill and Stranger Things.

Resident Evil Village

If you’re a fan of Resident Evil 7, then this game is for you. It’s a sequel to RE7 where after the end of it, Ethan Winters and Mia migrated to a small town in Eastern Europe as per Chris Redfield’s request. However, the boulder punching came to “visit” the Winters one day to kidnap Ethan and Mia’s daughter… or so we thought.

Ethan will have to go through an adventure where he faces off with several bosses in the village. The reason why we recommend this game is due to its story. We think that the story was written beautifully as well as the concept of having Ethan battle 5 formidable bosses [Lady Alcina Dimitrescu (or Lady D), Donna Beneviento and Angie, Salvatore Moreau, Karl Heisenberg and the supreme leader figure, Mother Miranda] with a twist at the end on how the game is tied to RE7.

If you have not played this game yet, we highly recommend it.

Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia is a multiplayer investigative horror game played in a first-person perspective. You can work solo or in a group up to four players to complete a contract. The investigators will have to find out what type of ghost is haunting the site. Players can communicate through voice chats or via walkie talkies. It’s an interactive “party” game where you need to talk to solve the haunting mystery. Phasmophobia has a speech recognition feature that allows certain pieces of equipment and the ghost to hear players talking and understanding key words.

It’s a fun, yet extremely scary game as you have no idea what’s going to happen.

Dark Pictures Anthology

Like any other anthology, The Dark Pictures comprise of a few survival horror stories that’ll keep you on your toes. First released in 2019 with the Man of Medan, The story for this anthology series feels like you’re watching a horror movie.

You get to decide how the game ends and how the story flows. Additionally, you can play this as a co-op multiplayer or by yourself.

The recent storyline, House of Ashes received quite good reviews and is definitely a game you should try out with your friends.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water

How can we leave this game out. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water recently received the remaster treatment and is released on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation console, Xbox and PC.

In case you don’t know what Fatal Frame is all about, it’s a survival horror game that allows players navigate areas filled with hostile ghosts. These ghosts are fought by taking photographs using the Camera Obscura.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water allows players to control three different characters who are exploring a number of environments across Hikami Mountain.

How the game works is that players can defend themselves against these hostile ghosts by dodging, or breaking free from their grip. As for attacking, the camera is your primary and only weapon. Players can take shots of the ghosts using the Camera Obscura where the damages inflicted on the ghosts varies from the proximity and angles.

If you want more kick in your horror games, this is a game for you to try out tonight.

Genshin Impact Guide | All 16/16 Tsurumi Island Time Trial Challenges For Beginners

It has been a few weeks since Genshin Impact released a new update. One of the major content update was the introduction to one of Inazuma’s final major island, known as Tsurumi Island.

The Tsurumi Island is an island that’s shrouded in a dense fog. It was the home to a civilization that worshipped Kanna Kapatcir. But, they have since vanished.

In the game, if the principal fog is not cleared, players will be teleported to Tsurumi Island’s Statue of The Seven.

In its initial stages,  players must start the World Quest Series: Through the Mists. It also requires the players to complete the World Quest Series: Seirai Stormchasers to lift the fog. When the fog is lifted, players can then explore the island properly. Additionally, when the fogs areas are cleared, players get to unlock the Teleport Waypoint.

Like the rest of the main islands in Inazuma, there are brand new challenges. We went through all 16 of them and we have to admit, they weren’t too easy.

SEAGM together with its partners remains committed to supporting the gaming ecosystem through investment in esports, gaming conventions, and strategic partnerships to ensure a positive and healthy environment for gamers to grow and develop. This is in line with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS)’s intent. Specifically, under Strategic Priority 2 (Towards Responsible Gaming and Esports Ethics) of KBS’s Strategic Plan for Esports Development 2020-2025.

RNRGW is part of Malaysia Esports Festival 2021, brought to life by KBS, ESI, and Spacerubix. The collaboration lasts throughout October 2021, in conjunction with Hari Belia Negara, Hari Sukan Negara, and World Esports Day 2021. Other than that, RNRGW is also a platform for SEAGM to support the collaboration. SEAGM is giving back to the Malaysian gaming community through prize pool sponsorship of around RM1,000 worth of SEAGM credits. In addition, SEAGM is also offering a discount on PUBGM Unknown Cash (UC) for all viewers worth RM31,800.

The Main Event

The main highlight for RE:LOAD & RE:PLAY Gaming Week is the 2 show matches that will be live-streamed on Facebook, with the first one featuring PlayerUnknown’s Battleground Mobile (PUBGM) on 23 October at 8.00 pm with popular professional players from SEM9.GANK such as Draxx, ManParang, and Team Farang Guerilla (winner of Malaysia Esports League 2021 for PUBGM), and the second one featuring Dota 2 on 30 October at 8.00 pm with popular players such as Arius Gaming and ChuaN (former Invictus Gaming player who participated in The International Dota 2 Championship 2013). The PUBGM showmatch will feature 3 maps: Erangel, Sanhok, and Miramar. The showmatch is open to up to 59 members of the public to join. Meanwhile, for the Dota 2 showmatch, Arius Gaming and ChuaN will go head-to-head against each other. They will each captain a team of 4 public players in a Best-of-3 format.

This Year’s Golden Bullet Wasn’t Even From A Bullet

Season 4 of the Malaysia Singapore (MY/SG) regional PUBG Mobile Pro League event was host to some of the most spectacular plays in the history of PUBG Mobile. The PMPL SEA website held a voting event for the best play of the season, aptly named “Golden Bullet”.  While it has since mysteriously disappeared from the website without announcing any winners, SEAGM has decided to go ahead and congratulate the most voted play anyways.

The Golden Bullet award for PMPL MY/SG Season 4 goes to none other than Azim Haris, otherwise known as Dep. More specifically for his amazing, possibly once-in-a-lifetime career play of getting a pan kill that led to a Chicken Dinner. In Match 3 of Super Weekend 3 Day 3, the situation boiled down to a 2v1 situation where S9HahaDep needed to face off against TSKiD5MX (Kid) and TSiSHOTzMX (iSHOTz). Shortly after managing to knock down Kid, Dep had to pay close attention to the supply drop where iSHOTz was taking cover. Somehow, Dep manages to throw his “pan” at meticulous timing to hit iSHOTz and land the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner kill for Match 3 of SW3D3.

Everyone is Hyped over the Pan Kill

The team’s reaction was in a heated uproar, as seen in their analyst’s, Soultannn1, Tiktok video. The ambience and overall vibe seen in the clip is a joyous one.

This play went on to garner 16,000++ votes on the voting page, which blew the competition out of the water.
