Steam Halloween Sale 2019 – What to get?

by Yong Chi Winn 29/10/2019
written by Yong Chi Winn

As we mentioned in a post last week, sure as day the Steam Halloween Sale is now here! It starts today, October 28 and will end on November 1 (10AM PST/12AM GMT+8). There’s also an event that comes with it but we’ll be talking about the games here. These are five game recommendations if you’re not sure what to get!

Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight is basically a 1 v 4 hide-and-seek game. But that’s a very basic explanation of the game. You can either play as survivor in a team of four or be the killer working alone.

As the survivor your goal is to escape. You can do this via fixing five Generators and opening the Exit Gates. Or, be the last man standing and escape through the hatch – that is if the killer doesn’t find it first. Playing as the killer is pretty straightforward, you have to catch the survivors, hook them and sacrifice them to the entity.

The thing I enjoy most about this is the detailed perks system that can really change the play style of the survivor or killer you pick. Besides that, playing together with friends and escaping together is exhilarating.

Despite a rocky launch, the game is in a very good place now compared to its earlier days. There are 19 survivors to pick from including the newly added Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler from the Stranger Things DLC. As for killers, you have 17 to pick from with the Classic Horror Movie icons like Ghostface and Micheal Myers.

The game is 50% off at MYR 19.

Graveyard Keeper – Stranger Sins (DLC)

If you’re looking for something more relaxing and casual but still kind of messed up – there’s Graveyard Keeper. The base game is also on sale at 50% off and yes you’ll be needing that to play this DLC.

Graveyard Keeper on its own, is a management game where you work as a, well, graveyard keeper. New body arrives daily and its up to you how you tend to the body before burial. Will you keep the skin to make paper? Or cut up all the flesh to sell to the local butcher? That’s all up to you how you want to play.

Your very own bar in the medieval times! (Source: tinyBuild)

As for the Stranger Sins DLC, it’ll let you run your own bar! Sell alcohol, food and even event manage for your bar. You could even make your zombies automate the production chain for you to create a steady income. Besides that, the DLC also further expands the story of the game further in which you’ll travel back 200 years and find out dark secrets of the town you reside.

Basically, this game has so much content to offer. The DLC is 10% off since it just launched today. So getting both base game and DLC will cost you a total of MYR 40.65. If you want, the Collector’s Edition is also available at MYR 47.73 – 49% off. This includes the base game, the DLC, official soundtrack and a digital artbook.

Remnant: From the Ashes

A third-person survival action shooter is basically what this game is. You can either play alone or with up to two other players as you try to survive the post-apocalyptic world teeming with monstrous creatures. As the last surviving remnant of humanity, you must fight back.

This game is better played alone than with friends since the co-op system has a lot of room for improvement. But otherwise, the game itself will provide a solid experience of shooting, surviving and progressing.

The creative and commendable enemy design makes all the fights enjoyable. But be warned, this game is not for the casual. It’s a rather hard game with very little guidance. The story is almost non-existent so if you’re looking for a good story, this game will not provide. Instead, take it as a fun shooter game that requires perseverance and skill.

Get Remnant: From the Ashes for 30% off at MYR 54.60!

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Unlike the games above, this one is more story-focused. It tells a tale of a pair of siblings in Kingdom of France, 1349. Amicia and her younger brother, Hugo are wanted by the Inquisition for unknown reason. Specifically, the want the younger De Rune – Hugo.

Image result for a plague tale innocence gameplay

The game follows your adventure as Amicia as you wade through villages devastated by the disease. Carrion of the disease itself, rats swarm, are your enemies. They come in big waves and will stop for no one and nothing.

Think you can save Hugo from the clutches of the Inquisition? Get pulled into the immersive world of A Plage Tale: Innocence for MYR 65.40 at 40% off.

TDPA: Man of Medan

Man of Medan is based on an event that actually happen way back in the 1940s. SS Ourang Medan became a legendary ghost ship when its entire crew died under suspiciously. There was no physical wound when their bodies were found, the ship was just drifting hauntingly through the Dutch East Indies waters.

This game uses that basis as its premise and the story revolves around a group of young adults who went out for a diving trip. They were eventually captured by pirates and in the midst of the storm, crashed across the SS Ourang Medan. With their small yacht threatening to sick, they had no choice but to board the ghostly vessel. Weird things started happening and their sanity are put to the test with survival at stake.

The past meeting the present. (Source: Gamerant)

As the player, you get to make game-changing choices that could either means everyone survives or everyone dies. As it stands, all playable characters can live or die and their life is in your hands. It’s also multiplayer so grab a friend and get in the spooky mood together for a price of MYR 50.25 at 33% off!

That’s all the game recommendations we have for the moment! Of course there are others you should get but we’ve already recommended them before so we’re going with a new list. When if comes to Steam sales, always make sure to get those on your wish lists first! If these aren’t on it, just add them now and grab them in the next sale!

Steam Autumn Sale date is leaked

by Yong Chi Winn 21/10/2019
written by Yong Chi Winn

As it is tradition every year, another Steam sale date is once again leaked by Steam Database on Twitter. Since Halloween is just a few days away, if you’re a frequent Steam user you probably already know. By this time of the year, we have three more sales to spend on before 2020 comes along.

Steam Halloween Sale

This sale is predicted to happen on October 28, 2019 – three days before Halloween. It ends one day after the spookies on November 1. Stay tune for deal recommendations coming up during the sale!

The Steam Halloween Sale is typically rather short since it revolves around a single festival. We’re guessing it’s going to be thematic where most horror type games will be on sale. In which case, we really suggest picking up Dead by Daylight if you’re into multiplayer fun. That game is getting a big update next week!

Steam Autumn Sale

As for this sales, it’s running for a whole week. Beginning on November 26, 2019 and will end on December 3, 2019. More games will very likely be on sale on this one in comparison to the previous themed sale.

Despite big title like Death Stranding coming out in November, we doubt that it’ll be on sale anytime soon. Maybe the Winter Sale?

That’s all the dates we have for you for now! So get your money ready because Gaben is coming right at your greenies.

PlayStation Plus Free Games September 2019

by Yong Chi Winn 30/08/2019
written by Yong Chi Winn

I think we can all finally agree that this month we’re getting really good games. We’ve been holding our breath since Detroit: Become Humans, not gonna lie. Here are your PlayStation Plus free games September 2019. For the month of September, all members in all region will be getting the same line up. These games will be ready for redemption come September 3.

Deal: Get PS PLUS and claim these free games!

Batman: Arkham Knight

Take on the villains of Arkham City in this action adventure game featuring your favourite raspy voiced superhero – Batman! In this finale to the Arkham series, you’ll go up against Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc and more.

Put on your super suit, get your gadgets ready and jump on in to the Batmobile and bring nothing but justice in your wake in the streets of Arkham City.

With this game, you can finally save – I’m Batman.

Darksiders III

Darksiders is based on the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse. In the third installment, you’ll be playing as Fury. Darksiders II came out way back in 2011 and we have THQ Nordic to thank for this third game of the series.

Darksiders III is pretty much an action game where, as Fury, you’ll have to battle the Seven Deadly Sins. Despite the graphics leaving room for improvement, the fast-paced and satisfying combat makes up for it.

So add this to your library and go punch some Sins!

As always, don’t forget to claim Augusts’ games if you haven’t. They’ll be off the shelf come September 3.

AniManGaki 2019: The Great Sticker Hunt Quickguide

by Yong Chi Winn 29/08/2019
written by Yong Chi Winn

For the past few days, we’ve been telling you about how lit AniManGaki 2019 is going to be. But here, it’s about to get even better. What if we tell you they’re giving away RM 350++ worth goodie bags? I don’t know about you but I’m about to hunt all these stickers.

There are a total of 14 stops you need to make. Some are on the second floor. Once you get there you’ll need to perform their mission before you can get your stickers. For now, we don’t know the missions yet. But, we’ll help you figure out the route!

Start on second floor!

Since the second floor is a lot smaller, we suggest starting there first. You’ll to do those missions without possibly having to wait in line. Here are the booths you need to get stickers from on the second floor:

  • Scale Modelers Malaysia
  • PLAY Exhibition
Second Floor Floor Plan (Source: AniManGaki 2019 Booklet)

Just head to the back of the second floor and you’ll see them! Since the PLAY Exhibition is rather big and it isn’t really a booth, you might want to keep your eyes peel for the person that’ll give you mission. And that, is all the more reason to get second floor stickers first. The person in charge would probably be easier to spot when there are less crowd.

First floor here we go!

So pretty much the rest of the participating booths are in the Main Hall – where the crowd will be. There are a total of 12 stamps you need from the first floor, here’s a map:

First Floor Floor Plan (Source: AniManGaki 2019 Booklet)

So here are the booths you need to visit for the first floor:

  • Takaro Boardgame Cafe – 2
  • ToGather Island – 7
  • Gempak Starz – 11
  • Sakura Malaysia – 12
  • Jantzen – 16
  • SUPA DUPA Circus – 17
  • The Magic Rain – 38
  • Wonderfly – 51
  • World of Buzz – 52
  • Artist Hub Malaysia – 53
  • Sunway Lagoon – 54
  • ATO Online Store

We suggest going around the booth on the stage side when there are no performances. Also don’t block the entrance when you go to the Sunway Lagoon booth since it’s right by it.

There are limited quantity to redeem so make sure to come early! Once you’ve collected all the stickers, bring it to the AMG counter for redemption. We know the goodie bag is super enticing, but remember to not get in the way of other people, especially blocking a walkway. Everyone’s here to have a good time!

AniManGaki 2019: 5 Survival Tips

by Yong Chi Winn 23/08/2019
written by Yong Chi Winn

AniManGaki 2019 is just around the corner, happening this August 31, and September 1, to be exact. For the uninformed, AniManGaki is a Malaysian convention celebrating animation, comics, and games. You can expect to find a jaw-dropping variety of cosplay, gaming booths, concerts and merchandise in the span of the massive two-day event.

Sounds overwhelming? Don’t worry! Here are FIVE beginner tips if you’re attending the event for the first time.

Buy early bird ticket!

Before we get into the nitty-gritty, here’s a quick reminder that AniManGaki requires a ticket for entry. Early-bird sale for the ticket has begun and will end on August 29. So if you want to save some bucks, go get it now over here.

Bring a power bank/charging kit

Since the event typically begins early in the morning until late evening, make sure you bring a power bank to recharge your phone. For extra measures, just bring your whole charging set.

AniManGaki is one of, if not THE biggest ACG conventions in Malaysia. Just last year, it hosted 20,000 visitors in the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre. This year, AniManGaki is going to be held at the Mines International Exhibition Convention Centre, and you can expect the venue to be PACKED. Everyone’s going to be having their phones out sharing cool photos to their social media. What happens when thousands of devices are hogging the bandwidth? Your phone is going to drain its battery fighting for that telco signal!

Alternatively, we suggest saving your power by setting your phone on Airplane mode while you snap away pictures. You can later share these photos during your food break or even at home. This is because when you’re running an app, especially social apps where there are a lot of things to load – it’s gonna eat away at your battery.

Bring water and snacks

If you want to maximize your expense on getting merch and loots, the best way to go about this is to bring your own nourishment. There will be lots of F&B, of course, but it’s always good to have an extra bottle of water on hand. Despite the on-site provision and the event location being connected to The Mines mall, snacks will come in handy when you’re waiting in line for a seat to a restaurant.

Plus, if you’re not fond of walking back and forth between MIECC and The Mines, the packed provision will help lessen some walking trips.

Have a budget! But bring extra cash

With over 80 booths in the main hall, it’s extremely likely that there’s going to be something that catches your eye… off-guard. Not bringing enough cash is a common pain that attendees go through, be it their first convention or their tenth.

Exclusive merchandises from Japan and other rare limited items may just catch that collector eyes of yours. So it’s wise to have extra cash if you think you might get tempted. ATMs are generally found outside the “hall”, so going out to withdraw cash and re-entering via the queue is definitely how you want to spend your time at AMG.

By now it’s probably too late to advise you guys to “save up” for AMG since it’s just a week away. But do plan out how much you plan to spend. Food and laifu over waifu, right? Here’s the list of attending exhibitors and booths:

No photo description available.

Be respectful and mind boundaries

Conventions are thrilling places to hang out with friends and even make new ones. Meeting new people that share the same interest with you can be pretty exciting, but don’t get carried away.

AMG 2018 (Source: AniManGaki’s Facebook Page)

Remember that strangers have boundaries. Don’t be rude when asking cosplayers for photos. If in cases where they decline, respect their wish. Just be respectful to each other in general. In a scenario where there’s crowd, don’t be pushing or shoving. Everyone’s there to have a good time!

That’s pretty much it! We’ll share the schedule with you once we get it so you can plan our your activities. Be sure to check AniManGaki’s official website to stay updated! If you wish you volunteer for booths or cosplay, everything can be found on the site. See you there at AniManGaki 2019!

The International 9 – Group Stage & Schedule

by Yong Chi Winn 14/08/2019
written by Yong Chi Winn

The day all of us Dota fans have been waiting for in 2019 is getting real close, literally 24 hours away! Today, we finally got the announcement for groups competing in The International 9. Let’s check out which team is in what group and what their schedule is looking like. There are a total of 18 teams and they’re being split into two groups for Group Stage.

Group A

  • Alliance
  • Chaos Esports Club
  • Keen Gaming
  • Mineski
  • Newbee
  • PSG.LGD
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Secret
  • TNC Predator

Our prediction for teams getting out of Group A are Team Secret, Team Liquid and LGD. However, definitely don’t sleep on TNC and Keen Gaming – they’re coming into TI9 pretty hot. With Team Secret winning most majors, they’re easily a favourite among fans.

Support your team: Get Dota 2 Season Pass

Group B

  • Evil Geniuses
  • Fnatic
  • Infamous
  • Na’Vi
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • OG
  • Royal Never Give Up
  • Vici Gaming
  • Virtus.Pro

Group B, on the other hand, could arguably be touted the stronger group. We’re looking forward to see if OG can hold on their champion spot from last year’s TI8. OG will have to put up a strong wall if they want to defend against strong competition like Evil Geniuses, Vici Gaming and Virtus.Pro. Can EG break their 3rd place curse this year?

All teams have arrived safely in Shanghai so there won’t be any Visa shenanigans this year.
