As an individual venturing into gaming, we often find that purchasing peripherals can be rather intimidating. Due to the heavy price tag plus the number of features, it is common to find yourself having a hard time deciding on a product. This is where the Armaggeddon Kalashnikov AK-666SFX comes in to play.

AK-666SFX – Review

This is a full-size keyboard that includes multimedia and gaming functions. This makes media browsing extra convenient with features like volume control, skip, play and stop. As mentioned, the AK-666SFX comes with 9 different back-lighting customizations. However, it is also important to note that the keys do not have individual back-light. Hence, identifying keys when gaming in the dark can be a little difficult. Besides that, the keys are not mechanical and are very silent to type on. So, if you prefer the tactile feedback and clicks of a mechanical keyboard, you’ll want to think twice.

AK-666SFX – Usage, Design & Customization

Taking up only one USB port, the keyboard is attached to a 1.5 meters cable and has a total of 104 keys. It’s compatible with PC and PlayStation 4. There’s no extra configuration required on either platform. Just plug it into a free USB port and wait for the device to install on its own and you’re good to go. A restart on the PC might be necessary if you notice the keys aren’t responding.

Once it’s ready to go, you’ll see the keyboard flare-up in a beautiful combination of RGB. A user manual is provided to guide you on your way to becoming a disco master with the keyboard. Plus, the size of the keycaps and their spacing from each other makes it easy to identify which button I have my finger on. This is helpful in preventing accidental usage of items or skills when in game. Not to mention, the keyboard comes with an anti-ghosting feature for 19 keys – for those intense buttons smashing moments. It is also spill-proof so if you’re one of those who loves drinking at your gaming desk, you don’t have to worry if you accidentally spill it on this keyboard.
Unfortunately, the lighting will be the only thing you can customize – to a certain degree. The AK-666SFX does not come with a software that you can use to preset your own effect. Due to that fact, you’ll only be able to choose from the 9 prefix is provided. Also, the keyboard does not have extra macro keys that you can customize.

AK-666SFX – Recommendation

Overall, the keyboard is genuinely comfortable to use. Having switch between long hours of typing and gaming, this keyboard was a pretty good fit to use in both areas. I highly recommend this keyboard if you’re a casual gamer who frequent Indie games from Steam and the likes. However, I wouldn’t say it is not suitable for intense gaming since it’s a pretty good keyboard. The only downside is the absence of macro keys. At just $30, this flashy keyboard will be a good match for your gaming rig without putting a dent in your wallet. If you’re looking for something more high end, I would recommend checking out Armaggeddon’s other selection of keyboard that offers more customization to maximize your gaming experience.
