Fortnite‘s next limited time event will be a mashup with the critically acclaimed movie, Avengers: Infinity War. Entertainment Weekly have released details regarding the event. Unlike the previous limited time 50 vs. 50 modes, the upcoming LTM is not expected to change much. It’ll be in the form of the standard 100 player slaughter. It’s the last man standing battle royale as usual, but with a twist.

If you can’t beat Thanos, be Thanos!
How exciting is that? The person who finds and wields the Infinity Gauntlet will transform into the fear-instilling titan Thanos himself! EW is the exclusive detail dropper regarding this mashup, so details are limited. What is Thanos’ gameplay like? Will he clobber down John Wick, unfathomed by his mighty pencil? Or maybe he’ll just snap his fingers and wipe out half the competition? It’s just so exciting to think about! We still don’t know if this will be available in other variants of the classic Battle Royale such as Squads or Duos. What we do know is that the mode will be coming to all platforms.
Thankfully, we don’t have to wait long to find out as the mashup will be dropping today! Yes, that’s right! Avengers 4 may be coming out in a whole, agonizingly painful year, but we’ll be getting the third best thing today! (The second best thing is a spoiler for Infinity War so-)
What? Who? Why?
Alongside the announcement, EW also gave some backstory on how the unlikeliest of events came to be. You can read all about it in the link above, but we’ll boil it down for you. Joe and Anthony Russo are huge fans of Fortnite, and Donald Mustard is a fan of their latest blockbuster. Joe and Anthony give Donald a call, and after some mutual praising, they decide to work together to bring us this… this… whatever this is!
