Set to release on December 3, 2018, Sony is bringing back their first ever iconic console to fans. The PlayStation Classic will be launching on the same date as the original did. If you didn’t know, PlayStation 1 launched on December 3 as well back in 1994. With 25 years of history on its belt, the PlayStation 1 sure made a big impression when it first came out. Selling more than 100 million units worldwide, it made video game history.
Sony announced the release of a miniaturized version of the classic console, the PlayStation Classic earlier today on their blog. It’s 45% smaller than the original and aims to emulate the feels and looks of it.

What’s in the box?

Currently, the pre-order for PlayStation Classic is only available in the US and Canada. As mentioned earlier, alongside the console itself, the bundle also includes several other things. There’s an HDMI cable, a USB cable, and two controllers. The miniaturized console will be available at the price of $99.99 USD (MSRP). The system will support a video output of 720p, 480p and weighs about 170g. Which is really light since the original weighs about 1.5kg.
As for the games, so far they’ve only shared a few in their blog post. They did, however, state that more information will be released in the coming months. Some of the pre-loaded classic titles include Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.
If you’re wondering whether the console will be available for your region, you’ll have to check for regional availability here. If you’re a Malaysian, fret not as this will be available for us as well! After conversion, the PlayStation Classic will cost 429 MYR. It will be available on December 3, 2018, as well.
