By now, every gamer out there probably knows who Razer is. As a company that specializes in making gaming peripherals, it’s breaking out of its mold this time around. Today, Razer officially launches Razer Pay Malaysia, bringing locals more options to consider in a bid to go cashless.

What is Razer Pay?

Previously known as One2Pay, Razer Pay is a rebrand of the former, an app by MOL Corporate. An existing user of One2Pay might notice Razer Pay carries a few similarities since the functions are carried over from the former.
Razer Pay will give users the option to pay for their purchases via QR Code at selected retailers. The app also features simply telco reload methods. Other function includes purchasing gaming virtual currencies such as PlayStation Money Voucher, Blizzard Balance, and their very own zGold. Besides selling currencies, they also offer ways to pay for streaming services subscription such as iflix, Spotify, and NJOI Prepaid.
With the app supporting up to more than 6000 local retailers such as Starbucks and 7-Eleven hopefully our country can move towards going cashless. This can, in relation, possibly lower crime rates and increase citizen’s safety.

Contributing to the country

Apart from trying to help Malaysia go cashless, Razer and its partner, Berjaya Corporation has made a promise to donate RM 5,000,000 to the country’s trust fund known as Tabung Harapan Malaysia. For every first transaction made by a Malaysian user the Razer Pay app at participating Berjaya outlets in the country, the company will donate RM 10. This campaign begins today and will end on August 30.
Since every new user who signs up with the app in Malaysia will receive a free RM 10 credit, all you really have to do to help the country is to spend that free credit! Any first-time sign-ups prior to September 30 is eligible for this promotion.
Back in April, Razer acquired MOL Global as its subsidiary. Razer CEO and co-founder Min-Liang Tan aims to create one of the biggest credit platforms for gamers. We are curious about how the gaming company plans to expand even further after the launch of Razer Pay.
