DC Fandome revealed several upcoming DC Comics projects coming soon.

Some of the biggest news revealed at DC Fandome was the first-look Black Adam, The Flash and Aquaman. We also got to see a brand new trailer for The Batman, which looks amazing.

However, what caught our attention were the new Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer and Gotham Knights trailer.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

Rocksteady Studios, the team behind one of the best superhero game series, Batman Arkham is taking on Taskforce X. In case you didn’t know, Taskforce X is also known as the Suicide Squad.

Here’s what we know about the game so far. From the trailer, the team will star four of its early members, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark. The story we know so far is that the Justice League have been brainwashed by the supervillain, who also appeared in Injustice 2, Brainiac.

Moreover, The Suicide Squad will take on this mission to take down Brainiac and hopefully “save” the Justice League. But, they would have to take on the evil versions of the beloved DC superheroes first.

According to Rocksteady, this game will be an open-world game set in Metropolis that’s set around the same time as the Arkham-verse.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set to be released for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X in 2022.

Gotham Knights

This is a little special for us as we were introduced to the Court of Owls, which for comic book fans, means a lot. The open-world action RPG game will be set in a Batman-less Gotham City. With the brand new trailer, we got the first glimpse into the game and its characters, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and the Red Hood.

The Fandome trailer also showed off a brief look at the Batfam getting captured by the Court of Owls as well as various versions of the Talons. Additionally, we were also treated to a Behind The Scenes look where comic creators for the Court of Owls syndicate, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo explaining how they feel.

Gotham Knights will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, in 2022.

The third-person action game is developed by the Batman: Arkham Origins studio, WB Games Montreal. It’ll also be playable in either solo or co-op mode.

Who Are the Court of Owls? Why Should I Care?

Now I know what you’re thinking, who the heck are the Court of Owls? Why are comic fans freaking out over this? It’s not like it’s Darkseid or Superman. We understand where you’re coming from and we’ll tell you who they are and why it’s good to know who they are.

The Court of Owls is a violent organization that has been around in the shadows for ages. They are like the so-called mythical Illuminati in a way. Throughout their existence, they’ve influenced the politics of Gotham and their legend are told only through whispers and nursery rhymes. Additionally, the organization hires highly-trained assassins known as the Talons to carry out their bidding.

In the comics, Bruce Wayne unveils his plans to develop Gotham City and where he would like to bring his hometown in the future. But shortly after revealing his plans, Harvey Bullock of the GCPD would find a murder victim pinned with knives on the wall of his apartment. The knives bore an insignia of the owls with a hidden message that states “Bruce Wayne will die tomorrow”. When Batman goes to investigate the scene he found Dick Grayson’s DNA under the victim’s fingernails. Grayson, or Nightwing, explained that the victim grabbed him to warn him about Bruce’s public appearance.

The reason why Court of Owls are so popular today is due to their long unspoken history and influence that they have had in Gotham City. And they almost killed Batman on multiple occasions.

Long story short, Talons attacks Bruce Wayne, Bruce Wayne survives, Batman goes to investigate the organization, finds out the fabled Court of Owls exists and they’ve been watching both Bruce Wayne & Batman (same person) for a very long time.

If you’re into Batman for its story and as a character, we highly recommend reading The Court of Owls story arc when you have the time.

The Court of Owls in the comics is led by the Judge of Owls. But, the Gotham TV series was led by a mysterious person known as Sensei.

The Court of Owls was created by the legendary duo of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo back in 2011.
