It’s been barely a month since the release of the critically-acclaimed “Ghost of Tsushima”. Now, mere weeks later, developer Sucker Punch is already surprising us with free content. “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” will introduce co-op multiplayer modes to the game alongside a class system. It will also, to the relief of everyone, be microtransaction-free.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will provide A New Perspective

While the base game takes inspiration from true events of the Mongol invasion, Legends will take inspiration from Japanese folklore. New enemies based on Japanese mythology are also to be introduced. They will differ greatly from the enemies already in the base game and will introduce supernatural attacks never seen before. This, in addition to the added co-op feature, is a fresh angle for Sucker Punch to explore.

There will be four classes in the Legends expansion; Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin. Each has unique advantages and abilities that are yet to be revealed. The expansion will introduce a series of co-op Story missions specially designed for two-player play. The developer has mentioned on their PlayStation Blog post that supernatural elements will be a key theme in both gameplay and aesthetics.

New Modes to play Together

Aside from the 2-player mission-based co-op, there will also be a “Survival” mode of sorts where players will group up in teams of four to defeat waves of the toughest enemies Tsushima has to offer. This includes “new Oni with supernatural abilities”.

In addition to these two modes, Sucker Punch has gone on to say that they will continue to update “Legends” with another mode called “Raid”. As the name implies, your team of four will invade another realm to take down a mysterious new enemy.
