Far Cry 5 Has Microtransactions

Launching by the end of this month, Ubisoft has confirmed that their first triple-A title will not have loot boxes. This is a trend from last year that we’re sure many gamers are happy to see die. Despite removing loot boxes and chance systems, Far Cry 5 has microtransactions still.

Silver Bars are the currency of Far Cry 5. Players will be able to spend their money, if they wish to, on cosmetic items. As usual, these will not affect gameplay in any way whatsoever. Besides cosmetics, the in-game store will also be selling time-saving boosters as well. Players are concerned that this might result in stumbling into a paywall in the later parts of the game where you’re given the choice to either grind hard or buy boosters.
There is, however, a silver lining. According to PC Gamer, Silver Bars are acquirable just by the playing the game normally. While trying out the demo, the writer found some Silver Bars are clearing an outpost.

While it is clear that you can obtain Silver Bars by clearing outpost, this is still a finite way to obtain them since there’s a limited amount of outpost in Hope County. In previous Far Cry though, the games eventually added an option for players to reset outposts several months after the initial launch. If this instalment were to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, then we should be able to farm Silver Bars at some point.
Ubisoft seems to have found a nice balance where they can include microtransactions into their game without making the game pay-to-win. What are your thoughts on this? Could you accept these type of microtransaction or are you a firm believer that a full-priced game should not include any post-purchase monetization?
