Apex Legends Mobile is getting their first set of regional betas later this month according to an EA blog post. The beta will be available in the Philippines and India on Android, with iOS support coming after extensive testing.
This version is designed exclusively for mobile devices and will not support optional cross-play such as seen in Fortnite.
Apex Legends Mobile: for Mobile
Apex Legends Mobile is currently under lead development by Respawn’s expert mobile game specialists in collaboration with the Apex Legends team and “other partners”. This concept is similar to Wild Rift’s design in comparison to its PC version, League of Legends.
The game will retain the design elements of the original game, however will redesign the control scheme to specifically tailor to touchscreen convenience. According to EA’s blog post:
The game will be free-of-charge and continue to retain its lack of “pay-to-win” elements. Like the original game, it will have monetization in the form of unique Battle Passes, collectible cosmetics, and unlockables.
How to Register for the Beta
It will be a while until a open beta launches for the mobile port of Apex Legends. The first of the Regional betas will begin Spring 2021, and will only be available on Android devices. As testing continues, Respawn will gradually expand the size of these tests, add new regions, and implement iOS support. According to the blog post, the team will launch a page that allows you to pre-register for the game “when they’re ready”.
Bear in mind that this announcement may change as due to community feedback and will continue to be under development. For more information, please refer to EA’s Online Service Updates at https://www.ea.com/service-updates. For more on mobile gaming news, visit SEAGM News.
