Firstly, 2016-hit and critically acclaimed strategic turn-based tactic game, XCOM 2, is getting a new expansion next week. The XCOM 2 new DLC is Tactical Legacy Pack, and will pay homage to previous XCOM titles. In relevance to its name, it features maps, weapons and armor from previous games. The main draw for inspiration comes from XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within, which are both highly rated games from the franchise.
The DLC launches on October 9 for PC, and will be available for free to players who own the War of the Chosen Expansion. This offer is for a limited time only, as the pack will cost $7.99 (US) on December 3, 2018. The XCOM 2 Collection does not increase in price despite getting this additional piece of content. For that reason, the Collection is currently 20% off in Steam. It features the base game, two DLC packs and the War of the Chosen expansion.
Aside from cosmetics, the DLC will add three new gameplay options in the Legacy Hub. The highlight of the DLC pack is the aptly named Legacy Operations. Play as Central Officer Bradford, and progress with other leaders of the resistance through these new stories. It features four all-new original stories to play through. Chronologically, it takes place between XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2.
These missions divert slightly from the traditional method of extreme and meticulous planning, and encourages more brutal and action packed gameplay.
Skirmish and Challenge Archives
‘Skirmish’ is the new map/level editor. You get to design your own maps, create objectives, and according to 2K’s FAQ, “much more”. The Challenge Archives will be a new offline feature, allowing you to play over 100 levels of War of the Chosen levels as you please.
As a token of appreciation, this DLC will feature two bonus soundtracks that you can play in game. Players now get the option to use the The Enemy Unknown soundtrack. Additionally, an all-new original score titled XCOM: UFO Defense will be available.
