The weekend’s here, ready try out these shooters?

Well, XCOM 2 isn’t technically a shooter but Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is! Both games are the featured weekend free games on Steam.  You can play these games for free over the weekend until Sunday 1PM Pacific Time.
XCOM 2’s new DLC, XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is coming out in 4 days so that would be my guess as to why the game is free to play. If you happen to enjoy playing XCOM 2, it’s currently 60% off and the offer ends 1 September, plenty of time to decide whether to get it or not.
As for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, the only recent update is that Ubisoft is removing maps from the game. So I’m guessing they’re trying to appease the crowd. Ever other Rainbow Six game is also in sales, up to 40% and the offer ends 29 August.

What Is XCOM 2?

XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a turn-based, strategy game that puts in the shoe of an alien resistant squad. Manage your team, upgrade your base and train your soldiers. No amount of preparation will ever be enough, if you make one false move, someone’s dead. This game is pretty hard even on easy level but it’s no doubt one of my favorite. Highly recommended! Grab it now if you enjoy it after trying it out.

What Is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege?

Essentially, it’s a first-person shooter game. This installment, however, added a new feature – The Siege Gameplay. In the game mode, enemies can now transform their environments into strongholds by building traps, fortifying their fort and create defensive systems to prevent breach by Rainbow teams. Players can counter by combining tactical maps, sending out observation drones and utilizing the new rappel system. Instead of barging in and shooting up the whole place, you have to plan before you attack to diffuse these situations.
You can start installing these games over at your Steam client. If you decide to play the game after, don’t worry, you don’t have to start over. All your progress during the free weekend will carry over when you buy the full game. Looking for other games to buy? Check out the Quakecon Sale by Bethesda!
