Capcom’s presence has been strong this year with titles like Monster Hunter: World and Megaman Legacy Collection. Back in E3 2018, they teased a series of upcoming games like Megaman 11, Resident Evil 2 Remake, and Devil May Cry 5. Fans are already on the edge for their seats waiting for all these titles. Today, the company is adding another notch to its release belt by announcing the remaster of the original Onimusha Warlords. The PlayStation 2 legend will be making its return on January 15, 2019, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.

What to expect in Onimusha Warlords Remaster?

As any good remasters goes, players can expect a visual remaster. This means high-definition graphics for the cutscenes, character models, and general look of the game. Experience feudal Japan all over again in high definition as you go through it slashing zombies.

Back when the game originally came out in 2001 for the PlayStation 2, it was the age of 4:3 display. But now you will be able to experience the game in widescreen display 16:9. If you want to experience the game as it was back in the day, there’s an option for that as well. The game display settings can be interchanged between 4:3 and 16:9.

New features to look forward to

Next, if you’re looking to just enjoy hacking and slashing away at zombies to your heart’s content, there’s an Easy Mode the game offers. It lets you focus more on just mindless slashing fun over trying to survive. It’s a great mode for newcomers to start the game with. As for veterans, this mode could be a stepping stone to help ease you into playing in higher difficulty.
Other features include:

  • New Soundtracks: Newly recorded soundtrack as well as Japanese voices.
  • Analog Stick Support: Gone are the days of moving with the D-pad.
  • Screen Scroll Feature: Traditionally, the game angle is fixed. With this new feature, the background scrolls up and down according to your movements. This allows you to view certain areas from different angles.

There is still some time to go before the game comes out since it’s aiming for January 15, 2019 release. Check out the announcement trailer above if you hadn’t seen it.
