If you’ve been saving up for the steam spring sale, then you’re in luck because there are a lot of games for you to choose from. Some of it contains the biggest hits from 2022 and also titles that have been recently release. While the latter might not have a chance of getting a price cut, it may still be worth getting.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – Action RPG

We’re starting off strong from Koei Tecmo, developers of the Ninja Gaiden and Nioh franchise have surprised us again with a rogue-like mashed together with RPG elements set in the Dynasty era. This souls-like title proves to be more than just a “clone” in a different setting. At its core, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty playstyle feels similar to how Sekiro: Shadow’s die twice does.  The combat heavily emphasizes on the parry mechanics and even with the option of dodging is present.

Successful parries reward aggressive players with strong counter attacks which is almost mandatory in any boss fight. Soulsborne fans rejoice as Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will keep you on your toes at all times with strong enemies that require tactics and memorising attack patterns which is a game definitely worth trying out.

Hogwarts – Open World RPG

The game is set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and takes place in the late 1800s, before the events of the Harry Potter books.

Players assume the role of a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where they can attend classes, learn spells, explore the school’s grounds, and interact with other students and faculty members. The game also features an open world outside of Hogwarts, where players can explore various locations and encounter a variety of magical creatures.

Players will face various challenges throughout the game, including duels with other students and encounters with dangerous creatures. The choices players make throughout the game will also affect the story and the relationships they form with other characters.

Atomic heart – FPS RPG

While the game is set in an alternate universe Soviet Union in 1955, where players assume the role of a KGB agent tasked with investigating a secret facility that has gone silent.

While the overall setting may displease some players due to the ongoing political affairs that Russia is involved, we try our very best to look at Atomic Heart through a spectacle of an objective observation.

Players will navigate through a vast open world, filled with various enemies, mutants, and robotic creatures, using a mix of traditional and futuristic weapons. The game features first-person shooter combat, RPG-style character development, and a range of abilities that players can use to gain an advantage in combat.

The game’s story is driven by a mysterious plot that unfolds as players progress through the game, with numerous secrets and hidden paths to discover. The game’s developers have emphasized that the game will offer a mix of horror, action, and humor, making it a unique and compelling experience.

Elden Ring – open world RPG

There is a reason why Elden Ring won game of the year award and if you’re still not sold on the idea why you should get it then you have some self reflecting to do.  Many have put off trying a soulsborne in the past and Elden Ring has been a gate for these people for many reasons. It’s non-linear path gave people a sense of motivation to explore on their free will.

Elden Ring offers a challenging journey for newcomers and veterans alike and its no stranger to the usual soulsborne formula. With its expansive world with sceneries that feel like walking into an artwork, the flexibility players have to pursue their desired build have endless possibilities.

Deeprock galactic – Co-op shooter

Despite being released in 2020, Deeprock Galactic serves as a timeless piece to play with friends during casual sessions.

Players can choose from four different character classes, each with its unique abilities and playstyles, to form a team of up to four players. The game features procedurally generated caves, which means that no two missions are the same, providing players with a unique experience each time they play.

In addition to mining resources, players must also work together to fight off swarms of dangerous creatures that inhabit the caves. Players must use their weapons and abilities to survive the onslaught, and teamwork is crucial for success.

Octopath Traveler 2 – JRPG

While JRPG’s have the tendency to be longwinded before the credits roll. But in some cases, there are many factors that gets the player to stay and make the journey worthwhile. By saying this, Octopath Traveler may have ticked all the boxes of what is known as the “perfect” turn based JRPG

  • Intriguing Story
  • Well-written characters
  • addictive and satisfying yet straightforward combat
  • Orchestral themes and soundtrack
  • stunning visuals
  • Incredible voice acting
  • need I go on?

You would not have to play the first instalment of the series as there is no connection between the 2. It was a good move for Square Enix to take a game with minor flaws and gave it quality of life improvements and perfection. Many people find it hard to justify the pricing of Octopath Traveler 2’s pricing but in all honestly, considering the value it gives and the time you’ll spend immersing in this beautiful world, I’d say it is heavily underpriced. If you’re a fan of turn-based JRPG’s, this is one title that you SHOULD definitely give a try.
