The highly anticipated upcoming installment in the Diablo series, Diablo IV is finally coming out on 6 June, however it’s early access will be out today, 2 June.
In case you’re out of the loop, Diablo IV is an action role-playing game that takes players back to the dark and gothic world of Sanctuary, where they battle against the forces of evil.
Where Does Diablo IV Fit In The Lore?
The events of Diablo IV are set many years after the events of Diablo III and its expansions.
In Diablo III, players faced off against the Prime Evil, Diablo, and other powerful demons. They successfully defeated Diablo and restored peace to Sanctuary. However, the victory came at a great cost. The destruction caused by the war between angels and demons left the world scarred and broken.
Fast forward to Diablo IV, the world of Sanctuary is on the brink of disaster once again. A new evil threat, Lilith, returns to wreak havoc and set in motion a series of catastrophic events. Lilith is the daughter of Mephisto, one of the Prime Evils, and her return heralds a new era of darkness and destruction.
Players will have the opportunity to explore a vast and interconnected open world in Diablo IV. They can choose from several classes, each with unique abilities and playstyles, to combat the forces of evil. The game promises a darker tone and a return to the series’ roots, emphasizing the visceral and brutal nature of combat, as well as the exploration of a desolate and hauntingly beautiful world.
While Diablo IV takes place in the same universe as its predecessor, it introduces a new storyline and does not require extensive knowledge of the previous games to enjoy. However, for fans of the series, Diablo IV will provide a continuation of the overarching narrative and build upon the lore established in previous installments.
