A priceless first-person shooter experience!

Brink is a first-person shooter by Splash Damage and Bethesda Softworks. Made in 2011, the game is now free to play! You can get it on Steam and that basically means its only available for Windows PC players. On Xbox 360 the game still costs $19.99 and there’s no downloadable version of Brink on the PlayStation Store either.

On the Steam page, the game is showing up as free to play but really, it’s just literally free. There’s no hidden micro-transaction paywall to monetize the game after you download it. There are, however, a few optional extra contents you can get for $3.77. Agents of Change will give you additional maps, player abilities, and weapon attachments. And then there’s a pair of cosmetic packs that lets you dress your character up in Doom or Fallout clothes.

What Is Brink?

If you’re wondering what Brink is; it’s a class-based first-person shooter that blends single-player with co-op and competitive multiplayer. Set in a futuristic floating city known as The Ark, you’re either a member of the Security or the Resistance. Sounds confusing? It’s basically CS: GO but – in the future. With QuakeCon happening later this week, it seems like Bethesda Softworks, the publisher, is giving away this game for free as a nice gesture to fans.
