Valorant has arrived, and it’s defying all limits! But with it’s release, could it be signalling the end for Overwatch and CS:GO aficionados?

We Are Valorant

At first glance, Valorant would be a familiar sight. Gameplay is pretty much a 5 vs 5 tac-shooter matchup which involves planting, or defusing the “Spike” (don’t get confused, it’s another word for “bomb”). So Counter-Strike right? Not quite…

If you thought that this is just another FPS shooting game with bombs and guns, then boy, are you in for a treat. Valorant is more than just guns, bullets, or planting Spikes.Creativity is your best weapon here. Players will have to choose an “Agent” armed with adaptive, swift, and lethal abilities that create opportunities to let your gunplay shine. (This is where that “Overwatch” element comes into play”)

The Agents

Agents are playable characters in the game. Each agent serves as a different class with four abilities and has a unique “contract”. Contracts are in-game challenges that can be done in order to unlock additional content in Valorant. There are 11 Agents (currently, at release) to choose, from four categories:

Duelist: Jett, Raze, Phoenix, Reyna

Initiator: Breach, Sova

Controller: Omen, Brimstone, Viper

Sentinel: Sage, Cypher

Right now at launch, there are four maps available; Bind, Haven, Split, and Ascent.

Map – Bind
Map – Haven

To conclude, is this the be all, end all for titles like Overwatch and CS:GO? Well, first of all, Valorant is still pretty fresh. But from what we’ve seen (and tried), it’s on fire! Above all else, it’s free for everyone to play in comparison to the other two titles.

We’d suggest you go grab your friends, and give this newcomer a shot! You bet we’ll all be there planting Spikes and trying it out. If you’ve already tried it (or are playing it RIGHT NOW), let us know how it is in the comments section below. You bet we’re excited to hear about it from you!
