SEA Gamer Mall Sdn. Bhd. recently took part in the Top E-Commerce Merchants (ECM) by the Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) for the second time. This is their second time around competing. Back in 2017 during the Second Edition of the Top ECM Award, the company was one of the top 10 finalists.
Yesterday, they were crowned champion. Having won first place, SEA Gamer Mall Sdn. Bhd. took home the Top ECM Award 2018. SITEC initially began running the show back in 2016. This makes 2018 the Third Edition of the event. Besides the award, the champ also took home the cash prize of MYR10,000.
Friendly competition amongst Malaysian E-Commerce companies
The competition is open to all local e-commerce incorporated retailers. To encourage friendly competition amongst the group of local e-commerce companies. Subsequently, the award is much coveted since it comes with a hefty prize pool. Plus, winners get a dip into the MYR25,000 prize pool. On top of that, there’s also the priceless recognition by event partners and media.
On June 19, 2018, the award began taking in registration. There was a total of 82 participants by July 21 during closing.
These are the criteria by which the shortlisted merchants are required to possess:-
- e-Store must have been in operation prior to April 2018.
- Sell products online to end-users only.
- Have achieved at least 200 transactions or possess over MYR50,000 in sales volume in any single month in 2017 to 2018.
- Transactions and sales across multiple online platforms can be combined.
Awards Ceremony Day
Finally, on September 15, 2018, the award ceremony day arrives. Held in the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITECT), Kuala Lumpur, the event featured a myriad of people. Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Senior Executive Councillor of the State Government of Selangor and Mr.Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive of SITEC initiated the ceremony with their speech. On top of the main event were other performances. There were dancing, acrobatics, and many other stage shows.
Prior to announcing the Top ECM Award 2018 winners, one other award was given away. This was the Best Startup Award with Printcious Gifts as the winner.
As for the top three winners of the Top ECM Awards 2018, they are dahmakan, Hermo and the champion, SEA Gamer Mall.
SEA Gamer Mall’s COO, Mr. Tommy Chieng expressed, “It is an awesome feeling (felt overwhelmed) and last year we joined ended up us at the top 10. This is a tremendous improvement.” He also shared, “SEAGM has been growing for 11 years and the team has expanded to be present in four countries.”
