One of Malaysia’s most accomplished and popular PUBG Mobile professional teams takes the next step in their esports journey with a new organization. Formerly known as Yoodo GANK, the Malaysia Book of Records winner of the “First Team to Win PUBG Mobile Tournament at Southeast Asia Level,” begins a new partnership with the leading online games digital goods platform as SEAGM acquires GANK.

In a landmark acquisition disclosed at 2 million Ringgit between SEAGM and Wulf Esports, the team will compete at the upcoming PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) Season 4 and all future PUBG Mobile esports events as “SEM9.GANK” – the PUBG Mobile team for the SEM9 esports organization.

 SEM9 by SEAGM

An initiative by SEAGM, SEM9 is a newly formed Malaysian esports organization. The organization has seen rapid growth and success with its mobile esports teams. It all began with their League of Legends: Wildrift team and Free Fire team. The addition of one of Malaysia’s premier PUBG Mobile teams to SEM9 further strengthens the organization in mobile esports. Team GANK founder and CEO of Wulf Esports Kevin Wong decided to deepen their partnership with long-time sponsor SEAGM. They are confident with the potential growth of SEM9 as the vision of esports laid by the CEO of SEAGM, Tommy Chieng.

“SEM9 stands for SEAGM Esports Malaysia 9. I envisioned it to be a Malaysian esports organization that continuously groom and support Malaysian talents to realize their dreams as pro players. SEM9 will also provide the platform that creates career paths for the talents.” – Tommy Chieng, SEM9 CEO & Founder

“SEAGM has always been a strong believer and supporter of the team since day one. When we approached SEAGM in the early days, SEAGM has been nothing but supportive towards the team. We have since been sharing some concepts and ideology together through the years. Now, finally we are able to realize our dreams of being a part of a legacy Malaysian owned and based Esports Organization, SEM9.

We hope to be able to bring more value to the organization and further strengthen the presence locally and internationally.” – Kevin Wong, WULF Esports CEO & Founder

SEM9.GANK roster

The SEM9.GANK roster will feature Aiman “ManParang” Amirul as the In-Game Leader (IGL), Azim “DRAXX” Ikromi as the Fragger, Hakim “Bravo” Saddar as the Rusher, Faizul “Putra” Iskandar Putra as the Support, and Azim “Wrydep” Haris as the Rusher. Professional esports commentator Fawwaz “Soultan” Sehaimi will support the team from the sidelines as the team analyst together with former professional PUBG player Agus “Hahagus” Amran, who will continue to reprise his role as coach.

GANK and their potential

The team continues to show their top-tier skill by placing second in the recent A-tier tournament, PMNC 2021. Throughout the tournament, new additions Putra and Bravo highlighted their talent of raw mechanical aim and pure combat skills.  The former earned the Terminator title. This title is only awarded to the player with the highest total kills in the entire event. SEM9 believes the team has great potential.  The team will continue to flourish from the synergy between the new additions and the esports veterans ManParang and Draxx. Having competed in PUBG Mobile esports tournaments since 2018, Malaysia Book of Records holders ManParang and Draxx are the original team members bringing  their wealth of over three years of experience to the team.

Finally, refreshed with a successful tournament, a new team name, and a new look, SEM9.GANK is confident to follow through with  its performance at PMNC 2021. With their PMPL Season 4 debut around the corner, the team is currently putting their focus on preparation.
