Little Nightmares 2 was revealed earlier today during Gamescom’s opening Weekend Event. We got an intense gameplay trailer featuring the two protagonists and a good look at the dangers that lurk.
Little Nightmares 2 is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Little Nightmares which released in 2017. It is under development by Tarsier Studios, the same team that works on the Little Big Planet series for PlayStation. You can try out the demo now on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
The trailer showcases an unfamiliar protagonist exploring the daunting environments of the Maw, where we see new puzzles, enemies, and game mechanics. The sound design is excellent and retains the daunting horror ambiance the first game does so well.
Like the first game, there will be AI cooperative play. The developers have gone on to mention in interviews that the exclusion of local/online multiplayer is specifically a design choice. (This portion of the article has been edited due to a mistake by our author).
There are also scenes where your character sets off bear traps with a bat as well as shatter a doll’s head. Nothing too prominent, just very cool.
It releases February 11, 2021 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also be arriving on next-gen platforms later in the year, with free next-gen upgrades for those that already own the game.
