Games to look out for based on Level Up KL SEA Game Awards 2020

Last week, Malaysia’s Ultimate Gaming Convention was live. It featured many events, including one in particular: the SEA Game Awards 2020 (which we’ll go in depth below). Before we go on ahead and take a look at all the games featured from Level Up KL SEA Game Awards, let’s see what it’s about.

Level Up KL

It’s the biggest game festival in Malaysia, and with the current situation affecting everything everywhere, this year’s edition was held online! Titled “Play Day”, the represents the best gaming has to offer, and is Malaysia’s premier annual game showcase with a focus on highlighting the best of what the Malaysian and wider South East Asia (SEA) region’s game industry has to offer the world. 

The event was held online from the 16th to 29th November 2020, where participants joined in through the Play App. It featured multiple events:

  • Expo App
  • SEA Games Showcase
  • SEA Game Awards
  • Esports Tournaments
  • Mainstream Show

Apart from the SEA Game Awards, another one of it’s highlights were the main stream show, which featured guest interviews, performances, product launches and reviews, cosplay competitions as well as various gameplay showcases by local influencers and streamers.

Level Up KL SEA Game Awards 2020

One of the events that caught our attention was the prestigious Level Up KL SEA Game Awards, which recognizes the achievements of South East Asia’s finest game studios. There were a total of 10 awards given out, under multiple categories. With the Level Up KL SEA Game Awards 2020, not only are awards handed out, but we as gamers are also in tune with the best games to look out for, which brings us to today’s article. Without further ado, here are the categories, and it’s winners:

  • Grand Jury Award – Short Creepy Tales: 7PM
  • Rising Star Award – Fallen Knight
  • Audience Choice Award – Don’t Stop the Party

Best Awards:

  • Technology – Bake ‘N Switch
  • Visual Art – Short Creepy Tales: 7PM
  • Game Design – Short Creepy Tales: 7PM
  • Audio – Love Esquire
  • Storytelling – A Space for the Unbound
  • Innovation – Delight
  • Student Game – Don’t Stop the Party

From the list above, it looks like Short Creepy Tales: 7PM took home the most awards, and is a title that is just calling out to be played. So, which of the above are on your must play lists? Let us know in the comments section below!
