How to deal with griefers in Fallout 76? Howard shares PvP details

During the Fallout 76 panel at Quakecon that happened earlier today, Todd Howard came forward with an answer for the majorities’ concern with the upcoming online take of the series. Bethesda has some tricks up their sleeves on how to deal with griefers in Fallout 76.
Setting out as a fully online game in the universe of Fallout, Fallout 76 aims to be an open-world survival game. Back in June at E3, the trailer reveals display the many features of Fallout 76 including the ability to launch a nuke in the game world. This, of course, had many Fallout fans concern. Though there are players who are just ready to jump into this PvP world, there are still some who are on the fence. All along the Fallout experience has been single-player RPG and with this change to the formula to “fit in” with the market, that experience will significantly different for old fans of the franchise. Hence it is understandable that griefers are a big concern despite them being a common occurrence in any online game.

How to deal with griefers in Fallout 76

As it seems, anyone who wants to be grief others in this game will really find themselves on the bad end of the stick. Basically, they’ll be getting a taste of their own medicine.  Players who hit another with the intention of killing them will only do minimal damage. However, this is also a way to initiate PvP in the world of Fallout 76. If the player retaliates then it’ll become a PvP match but if they decline and the initiator continues to hit them, the killer will then be considered a murderer. On becoming a murderer (killing an unwilling participant in PvP), a bounty will be on their head.
Appearing on the map as a red star, taking down the murderers will award the bounty hunter with Caps as the reward. But here’s the catch – the Caps will be coming right out of the griefer’s pocket. Howard hopes this will discourage players who just want to ruins everyone’s fun from being part of Fallout 76. The game will also add a Pacifist mode for players who accidentally hit another player. It’s important to note though that even in Pacifist mode you can be killed. This, of course, is to prevent griefers from killing someone then jumping straight into Pacifist mode.
