In the new 2.1 update for Genshin Impact, we receive a lot of new content and one of it will be a permanent mechanic into the game, fishing!
Fishing is a new mini game that you will need to play in order to craft new items and weapons in the future. Or you know, its’ also a good way to destress from all the artifact farming and Spiral Abyss runs.
Among the items that can be crafted exclusive from fishing, players can craft weapons as well. The Catch , a 4 star Polearm and The Luxurious Sea-Lord, a 4 star Claymore.
As of now, only “The Catch” is obtainable from fishing and as for the Luxurious Sea Lord, it will be available on a later date.
Before you set on your adventure
Before getting started with fishing, players will receive a quest to speak to Katheryne at Mondstadt. The Questline will eventually lead to unlocking the fishing mechanic in the game.
This becomes apparent when fishing vendors become visible in the three different regions, Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma. Each vendor offers different fishing related items that can be traded with caught fish.
Getting Started
The fishing vendor located in Monstadt offers a variety selection of craftable baits which can be traded for THREE (3) Medaka each. It is recommended that you unlock all the the different type of baits as soon as possible, this allows you to catch different fishes that can lead to crafting different items.
Fishing bait can be obtained by using the crafting table at any location. The Value of 1 in crafting is equivalent to 10 fish baits so be careful not to over craft or you will have tons of spare bait.
Fish n’ Tricks
There are certain spots that can be fished in Teyvat and different fishes can be found at different locations. All locations can be found using the Genshin Impact official interactive map.
Just like other world resources and ores in the game, fishes do come with dedicated spawn rates , from the minimum of ONE (1) day to maximum of THREE (3) days waiting time for the fish to spawn again.
And like your world resources and ores, players are also able to travel to other worlds in co-op and fish there as well, just be sure you ask their permission.
“The Catch”
The 4 star polearm that is only obtainable through fishing is one of the most hyped weapons in the game. Back when Festering Desire was a really strong 4 star sword, The Catch delivers similar properties in a different form factor.
To obtain The Catch, players would have to catch:-
- 6 x Raimei Angelfish
- 20 x Golden Koi
- 20 x Rusty Koi
This will only get you the Polearm, as for EACH (1) refinements, you will need:-
- 3 x Raimei Angelfish
- 10 x Pufferfish
- 10 x Bitter Pufferfish
In total, you will need
- 18 x Raimei Angelfish
- 20 x Golden Koi
- 20 x Rusty Koi
- 40 x Pufferfish
- 40 x Bitter Pufferfish
Long Journey Ahead
We’re glad that miHoYo introduced the fishing mechanic into Genshin Impact, and though it may be simple compared to other games, it is still refreshing to see a non combat quality of life since the introduction of the Teapot.
Here was a simple outlook on fishing, if you’d like to know more in detail, we’ve also released a recent video here.
