Whether it’s mobile, console or PC, new great games are released every year, with every one hoping to be honoured with the coveted game of the year title. But on top of Game of the Year winners and nominees, there are also others which are deemed EXCELLENT in their own right, and worth looking into. These are some great games still worth playing in 2021.
Starting off the list is 2020’s most Googled game: Among Us. No seriously, it was THE most Googled game. Truth. Among Us took the internet by storm and if you haven’t played it, then you’re in for a lying fest. We say lying because the game relies on you getting yourself out of a murder YOU commited through the form of LYING. That is, if you’re lucky enough to be picked as an Imposter.
One can wonder how a simple game could lead to absolute social destruction. Which explains why it’s a top pick amongst streamers. Anyways, Among Us was released back in 2018, and is definitely a must play for 2021. Download it for your mobile, PC, or even Nintendo Switch today!
We know that lying to your friends to get out of murder can be tiring sometimes, and this is where our next game comes in. It’s the world of Animal Crossing by Nintendo. While it’s no Harvest Moon (you know, cause there’s no events, marriage, farming, and recently, Monsters! Errrrk.), Animal Crossing is still a fan favorite.
With people all cozied up at home during the pandemic, life is replaced with time spent in building your village. Players get to customize their own character and the game is based on real time, reflecting a touch of reality to those who are stuck at home. It’s no wonder why a lot of people are still infatuated with the world of Animals Crossing. While it’s a game that’s more relaxing in nature, the next game in the list is definitely the opposite.
Leading up to its launch, Valorant caught the attention of many players, specifically those of the competitive nature. Variety arrived for players looking to move on from staples like CS:GO, Overwatch and similar FPS titles and found themselves in a combination of the two, Valorant. As a free to play game by Riot, it did gain a lot of attention in the beginning, although it seems to have slowed down as of recently. But it’s definitely a game worth checking out in 2021, with new agents and maps being released gradually. It’s still free, so if you’re an avid FPS player, get on it right now, and give Valorant a shot.
Not much needs to be said about the next game on our list. It is one of 2020’s BIGGEST games, and is often compared to Zelda: Breath of the Wild (in the beginning). It’s Genshin Impact, it’s available for mobile, PC and console gamers alike, and is generally free to play. It’s built a HUGE fanbase with a positive reception at launch, and continues to gain more fans daily. With over 393 million dollars in the pocket within its first two months, Genshin Impact doesn’t seem to be slowing down (the recent Genshin Impact 1.4 update was great!), and if you haven’t started your journey yet, we’d recommend you to do so right now! Plus, we’ve got our SEAGM Youtube Channel filled with tons of guides for you to catch up with, and make your journey easier.
Last of Us 2
While there’s mixed emotions with this one, it did secure a ton of awards under its belt, INCLUDING Game of the year. AND it most definitely is a must play game if you haven’t already. Without trying to spoil anything, the game does weigh on heavily with feelings, especially if you’re coming from its predecessor. For those unfamiliar with The Last of Us, it’s a Zombie apocalypse tale of survival, albeit far off from the other zombie games that we’re all familiar with. There’s realism, there’s storytelling, there’s diversity, excellent direction. The only excellent piece missing, is you, the player. If you have a fear of Zombies, then the last game on our list would be more suited for you.
Ghost of Tsushima
The last title on our list is none other than Ghost of Tsushima. My friends, if you have not played or even heard of Ghost of Tsushima, man are you in for a cinematic treat. With a great story to boot! It tells the tale of a samurai, Jin Sakai, who finds himself in a pickle between doing the honorable, or going against it to save his home from the Mongol invasion back in the late 13th century. It is also one of those open world titles where you’re going to want to invest some time in. This is because it’s main story, and side stories are all equivalently just as good. Above all, it explains why it received several award nominations and wins!
That wraps up our list of great games worth playing in 2021. Have suggestions of your own? Let us know below. Also, if you’re looking to buy some of the games on this list, do check out SEAGM for all your gaming needs.
