And due to the variety of video games played competitively, the fanbase is massive. Amassing to a total of over 300 million viewers.
The Esports scene includes games such as:

Video gaming is a highly popular pastime for youths and adults from all around the world. And just like with traditional sports, the players in the competitive scene practice and hone their skills daily. They spend just as much time training as traditional athletes, if not more.
Thousands of people gather from all over the world to watch the games live and even more, people watch them from the convenience of their homes. This is no different from traditional sports.
The Paris 2024 Bid Team Will Discuss The Inclusion of Esports
As of now, the Paris 2024 co-leader Tony Estanguet is not saying ‘no’ to the idea. He says “We have to look at it because we can’t say, ‘it’s not about Olympics.'” And he’s right. Aside from the obvious physical requirements differences of a traditional athlete and an eSports athlete, their competitive spirits are the same.
In addition, Estanguet also mentioned “The youth, yes they are interested in sport and this kind of thing… Let’s try if we can find some bridges.” The times are changing and this step forward for the gaming community opens up new opportunities for the youths.
Furthermore, the Asian Games 2022, a multi-sport tournament second largest to the Olympics, will include eSports as an official sporting programme. The Olympic Council of Asia stated that they wanted to reflect “the rapid development and popularity of this new form of sports participation.”
All in all, we can expect some big changes in the esports scene for the coming years.
