The new shooter’s campaign is set near the end of World War II. It’ll feature a “historically inspired” single-player campaign together with a multiplayer mode. Players will get to experience major battles across the four main countries.
Additionally, the reveal showed us that there will be a feature which will intergrade with Call of Duty: Zombies and Warzone.
Vanguard offers a single-player campaign focusing on the origin of the special forces. It’ll be told from not just one but multiple point of views. The story will cover untold stories of the multinational heroes that formed the famous Task Force One and how it change the face of history. It sets the stage for special forces as we know it which will also include a cast of characters that’s inspired by real-world personalities. For example, Lt. Polina Petrova was based on the famous Soviet Sniper, Lyudmila Pavlichenko, who was also known as Lady Death.
The campaign’s main plot is how the Allies dealt with this whole successor problem after the death of the Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler. In this game, the Allies will deploy a squad of four specialists from four different countries. Arthur Kingsley from Great Britain, Lt. Polina Petrova from the Soviet Union, Wade Jackson from the United States, and Lucas Riggs from Australia.
From the reveal, we were introduced to Vanguard’s main villain, the fictional Heinrich Freisinger. He was inspired by the real Gestapo operative Heinrich Müller. This game is likely to be a major change and as a fan of historical fiction, it’s definitely a game we’re looking forward to.
Apart from the campaign, there will be a multiplayer mode. It consists of 20 maps at launch together with game modes including “Champion Hill” where players battle solo or in squads of two or three.
Additionally, there’ll be a Zombies mode which was developed by Treyarch, the studio that worked on Black Ops. It will also be somewhat of a sequel with the previous undead story from Black Ops Cold War.
At the same time, Raven Software is leading development on a Vanguard map for the battle royale spinoff Warzone. When the new map launches later this year, it’ll be accompanied by a “new anti-cheat system,” according to Activision. The company describes the crossover as an “all-new metaverse connecting Vanguard, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare.”
Call of Duty: Vanguard is set release on November 5th. It’ll be coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC.
Moreover, Call of Duty: Warzone will get a brand new map with a new anti-cheat system in their battle royale mode this year.
