Gamescom 2018 is just around the corner, here's what you can expect

Gamescom 2018 is almost here and that means more game announcements! Although E3 2018 showcased a lot of upcoming titles, some developers tend to hold out ’til Gamescom. So that means we will probably get a few surprise announcement.
Originating all the way back in the year 2009, Gamescom has since been held annually at the Koelnmesse Convention Center in Cologne, Germany. The event will be happening at the same venue this year from August 21 to 25. Here are some of our expectation for Gamescom 2018.

What to expect from Gamescom 2018?

There’s a big line up of gaming companies showing up at this event. These are our picks on which company to keep an eye on!

Sony PlayStation

There isn’t much to expect from Sony at the moment. With Spider-Man coming out very soon in September, it’s probably going to be more gameplay clips. If we’re lucky, maybe a playable demo. There might be some peaks at Days Gone but very likely not much from The last of Us: Part II.

Microsoft Xbox

Microsoft will be hosting a special episode of Inside Xbox which will broadcast live directly from their Xbox booth during the event. The Xbox FanFest is returning to Gamescom once again this year. It’ll be happening on August 23, Thursday night.
Now let’s move onto the games expectation we have for Microsoft. The Xbox booth will be featuring a grand line up of 25 games featuring a wide range of various genres. Fans of the company’s own racing game, Forza Horizon4, can go take a drive to this booth! Besides that, State of Decay 2 is getting a sneak peek for its expansion, Daybreak Pac as well. The pack is set to release in September. Other than that, probably more PlayerUnknown’s Battleground for Xbox.

Fans of the Assassin’s Creed were pleasantly surprised with a treat back in E3 when Odyssey was announced. There’s a high chance that we might get demo of the game at Gamescom. Other titles that we’ll get a peek at includes Skulls & Bribes, The Division 2, Anno 1800 and their latest IP, Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

Screengrab via Pokemon

Nintendo had an awesome E3 with their major hit Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Pretty sure this will be their star for Gamescom as well. Though we do think Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee will steal the spotlight since the release date is getting closer (November). Personally hyped for this one! There’s also Super Mario Party coming out in October so it’d be nice to get a look at that too.

Screengrab via Devil May Cry 5

Capcom will be bringing Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 Remake to Gamescom. Attendees can look forward to the first playable version of Devil May Cry 5. Honestly can’t wait to see more of Nero and Dante! To top that off, attendees can also get director Hideaki Itsuno’s autograph at the event. Besides that, the Resident Evil 2 Remake also has a playable version though it is restricted to age 18 and above.
Capcom probably has more surprises awaiting us at Gamescom but just getting to see these two titles is already exciting enough.

These are just some of the names appearing at Gamescom. Here are some others to look forward to at Gamescom 2018:
